This is one S L O W phone , does not deserve to be called a smartphone. SE should not have launched this phone . One glorified piece of bad engineering.

thanks for your reply my42! I hope your right! One of my friends bought the p990 on orange yesterday and said it was great! Im so jealous :( why dont 02 get their act together I have waited a 11 months for an upgrade I could have had another phone during this wait! its been such a waste. But as I said I went to an 02 store yesterday and the rep told me if he was being HONEST we wouldnt see it until January because there are massive problems with it! Im thinkin of cancelling my contract asap and moving to orange to get the phone.
Does anyone have any advice on how I should proceed? Im paying 50 quid a month for nothing at the moment!

just tot i let u know the situation of things,as i frequent observer of this site,i couldnt help put say that u guys that have a complaints bout this phone p990i should give it a break,cos SE announced this phone would be released a long time ago but kept post poning it due to software problems,i remember some of ur all kept criticizing SE 4 the constant delay,apparently they were forced into the launching of the phone even though it wasn't fully ready.the same thing is happening to the N92,just relax and be patient people.take care people have a 1derful week ahead

for egghead, i work for O2...as far as i am aware the release date is wc 13/11 this monday. they do keep changing it but i reckon it should be out by end of november!

Three days ago I have bought this phone. I liked the options provided to make connectivity with other devices specially WiFi. The poor thing with this box is the sound of the phone is very very LOW when it rings plus when you listen to MP3 songs on speaker. I think W550 model sound quality is far much better. Pls post the info as soon as anybody come accross with info that Ver9 for this phone has been released.

For those new peoples in this thread who want's some infos about the P990i,.. read the previous posts.. i contains several infos and tips for proper use of SE p990i,, and for those who complains and bash,.. please openup your mind, smartphones are designed similar as PCs, you could encounter problems,bugs and etc.. like PC do... if you have no advance experience with using PC(like tweaking it up, programming applications and other advance usage) other than just making internet chat/browsing,documents and playing games, it wont work very stable for you... this is a very advanced phone and not simple mobile phone for texting and calling and taking mediocre pics and listening Mp3s and whateva... this is also dedicated for those Nokia symbian complainant/bashers... all smartphones have a similar nature as of PCs have... so don't wonder for instability as you always have the right way to fix and remedy it other than just keeping complain and complain...

For some applications, games etc... go to handango.com . Their programs for p990 is growing now.
For push email, you can set your phone up to receive email at a specified time. There is no need ofr third party software for this... all you need is a data plan.
For thos complaining that this phone is a crap... well, you probably did got a crappy one. Sometimes it just depends where you bought it from. For those who could not figure out how to use its features, don't say it's crap. Maybe you are the one... read the manual and follow all instructions. The phone is not gonna tell you how you should set it up. Don't just take it out of the box, charge and put the SIM card and expect that all the features will work right away.

this is the worst phone I have. it reboot under no reason. that happens to me few times a day. i guess it run short of RAM. then it come out some crap error messages and freeze.

People, DO NOT BUY P990i,
I should say thid phone is the biggest joke ever in phone life,
It's about 2 months, I've bought this phone and i've had problems every single day:
1- The phone works at a VERy VEry SLOW pace which makes you nervous.
2- The phone shuts down automatically once a day.
3- I have to remove the battery 3-4 time a day in order to reset the phone coz it hang up and nothing works.
4- the camera is a disaster with it's terrible wuality and when you taking a film, the image freezes a lot.
5- Worst, the Sony Ericsson customer service is terrible and impolite and they say that we can't solve this problems and I have to wait. also they don't even change the phone for me, neighter give my money back.
this should be a big shame for them.

Anybody knows if Smartmovie player application is already available for P990i, if available, what website we can download? I have previously owned P910i and Smartmovie player works perfectly with .avi file extension for video clip.
