Why should u expect customers to buy outdated sofware mobiles or place it readly with local dealers to do upgrades for u.My dealer is totally incompetent only selling with no maintaince workshop or staff to upgrade.SE is responsible to give free service even when u pack n local dealers they should update to latest firmware.Most people get even more problematic doing this,which is totally not their problem.Since 4 months P990i is the biggest loser due to hang ad freezes not desgn or Specs.Se must save their reputation NOW......

nice phone. would still consider w900i, but i got this from a plan. had it for 5 days, crashed twice (too much open apps and too much clicking while BUSY flashes). but hey, even topnotch laptops crashes hehe. performance as a PDA and phone is A1, functions and all. only draw back is the texture of the phone which is pretty slippery, better hold on to it tight!

Well, only one day later and I have to say that the Orange version of the 990i is no better than the Voda version. It has now crashed four times in under 24 hours and once while I was on a call to customer services!!
As you can guess, this one is going back too and I'm giving up on the 990i.
Still trying out the W850i and have to say it is a good little phone and responds well.

To all those users who find p990,troublesome because of its frequent restarts,try installing the swiss manager.Give a command,(in settings)to close all applications on flip close.the phone never will freeze,hang,restart again.If you want the app,please email me,and i'll send them to you.(deepakpaij@gmail.com)

Hi 2 all,
Yesterday I just bought the P990i, until now I did not had any problems with it, like restarting, freezing or anything like that. But the biggest problem is that once I got it, I installed the PC Suite, it worked the first time, I transfered allmost 1,5GB of music onto it, and later after I restarted my laptop, I wanted to transfer some videos and some pics, but it didn't recognize it anymore, I tried to update the drivers, I even uninstalled and reinstalled the PC Suite, and when drivers are installed, at half it gives me this error: "This device can not be installed"
Can anyone help me please?

Been using the P990i for a month now. Gosh does it look and feel good. Here are my observations.
All the things I like:
1. browsing through the message folders(i.e in/outbox, sent) is too cool, you don;t have to flip open like P910 etc
2. Navigation key takes a lot of the old flip open dependent functions away.
3 I love that you can now add birthdays to contacts which also go in the calendar. Someone said this wasn't possible but I've done it.
4. Camera: Great! Great! Great!!
5. Look: It looks good, slightly bulky but good!
6. Games: I play golf so I love Vijay golf & quadrapop (can u beat 13310?).
7. Business Card Scanner: good idea but the jury's still out on this one...
Things I DON'T Like:
1. Jog dial: why take away the 5way jog dial? You wouldn't need a keylock if this was till there?
2. Crash & freeze: since I got it the phone either restarts or freezes at least 2ce a day. Note I've got the old'er' software though, but this is really disappointing!!
3. Speaker phone sounds shallow, W900 better by far but then again, its a phone walkman. Even with the differnt settings eg Mega bass, Classical, etc, its still not fantastic!
4. Speed: is this phone slow or what, particularly at start up, almost 30secs to 1min slower than P910i. Sometimes you forget if you were starting up or shutting down :)
5. still a slippery phone to get a good grip of making dropping it high risk. I hope this will get better with age as the body wears some.
6. Screen: what's up with that. In sunlight it goes black. This is real awful!!!
7. Pouch: Excuse me but did they forget to pack a pouch?? How can such a real good looking phone not come with a pouch?
8: 3rd party software: now this is a disaster. P910i games don't work on P990i!! Grrrr. I want my chessssssss back!!!!!!!
9. Battery is worse than P990 but I guess that's to be expected?
10. Note pad: I find sketching in the note pad just a bit tricky.
You gotta love the ingenuity of Sonyericsson anyday. Still the best PDA on the market for the money!!!

Hi again!
Trying the 990i again. This time with Orange. Just received it today [Wednesday] and it has already crashed once and had to take the battery out to restart it.
Orange UK told me that they held back on releasing the phone until they were satisfied with the software. Hmmmm!!!
Comparing picture and sound quality with the W850i at the moment. Will report back later.
Orange also told me they will not be carrying Nokia N95 as it has failed all their testing!!

thanks alot for the person who answered me but here in alex its price cost 4700 with garentte delta too,but no without garentte .so ma last question its prefer to buy it without garentte or not and from where in cairo tell me plz wait for ur answer soon and wt abt speakers quality (loud,clear ) answer me soon please

How on earth do you access rss, I cannot find it anywhere! I tried adding rss links but it keeps saying "folder not found".

vodafone chaned my phone for another as they said it depends on which batch it came from , and blow me it still crashes , its not SE software that is at fault it is vodafone uk software that crashes and freezes and cuts off half way through a call to improve performance

yes the phone is great and u wont have any problems after the update..
the price is really over.. but the phone is great
u can get it from phono for 5000LE with local warranty Delta
and in cairo you can get it with out warranty for 4000LE

guess what all? Called 02 and its not comin out this week and they have no idea when it will! Just flipping great, also I spoke to my mate and he had the P990 for one week and returned as it kept crashing over and over and all he wanted to do was look at the calender! I still want to give it a chance and will wait but if its crap I will return it inside the 14 days :(
This the worst news I could have ever heard! Oh this is a digrace..I am now considering another handset. I think the Nokia N-seies may have just won itself a new customer!
