I will buy this phone as soon as it becomes available. However I must tell you my opinion as well: The smaller screen it’s a disappointment. The QWERTY keyboard on the P910 was perfect. It would have been better to remove it all together rather than sacrificing screen area. Writing with the stylus is excellent on P910.

there is a nokia touchscreen phone, Nokia 7710 and there is another around for quite a few 6710 i think it was it name, for the asian market,
i remenber people saying that this one would be the best Symbian phone for some time and nokia already backstabed with the n80 and n92 =)

Argh! How much longer must I wait? I don't know if I can wait any longer. So tempted to buy O2 XDA Atom! How long more before P990i comes out?

Almost there! i dont get it. This phone has more features than most of its competitors on the market. So why ruin it with a SMALL SCREEN? That's like putting donuts on a ferrari. Overall it still seems to be functionally better equipped than say the pda2k for instance. But i will wait this one out. Hopefully SE comes out with a true PDA phone.

Yah, the more I read what P990i has to offer and the more I compare it with other phones, I think that P990i is a great phone with great features and I am sure the guys at Sony Ericsson knows it and that could be possibly why they are taking so long to launch the phone, other than the fact that they had decided to annouce it early to accomodate to their technical functionalities. But I think they announce it early too because they know it's a good phone and if anyone is looking out for a pda phone now, they would rather wait for P990i than get any other in the market though I think O2 XDA Exec and O2 XDA Atom are great phones too.
Nokia is coming out with one too? But Nokia doesn't have touchscreen. I don't remember any of their phones being touchscreen. And moreover, Sony packs everything into P990i It has been said that Nokia tends to leave certain things out in their phones to entice people to change to other of their own phones. I am not sure how true that is.
Well, I am waiting for P990i. I hope they let it out soon and not let me wait because they know I am waiting. Haha...

this phone is the prefect phone among all the cell phone manufacture.. it's the prefect symbian phone with touchscreen, 4gb memory card, hign capity phone memory, and the high quality screen with the 2mp camera and with the auto focus.. the most important is it's the 3G phone.. and the keyboad is more conffinient if compare with other two old version symbian phone.. But. i think the price will be so expensive while marketing in the year 2006..

Yes, it can support up to 4GB memory stick. I read somewhere that the 4GB memory stick will be released in time when P990i comes out. But I am not sure if it will hang if the memory is too huge but I think the larger the internal memory is, the more stable it is and the lesser it should hang.

Unfortunately, however, there is one major snag with the P990, which is also the reason why Sony Ericsson opted to announce the existence of the device so far in advance of its introduction - slated to take place in the first quarter of 2006. Due to the introduction of a new security framework in Symbian OS 9 none of the existing applications for the P900 series will be compatible with the P990; they will need to be recompiled with support for the security precautions. This should prove a relatively simple task for developers according to Sony Ericsson's claims, but something tells me users will raise eyebrows at having to rely on the mercy of software houses to release upgrades to their applications to be able to use previously bought applications with the P990.

To ensure a large proportion of applications are available on the new Symbian and UIQ software platform when the P990 goes on sale, Sony Ericsson has decided to announce the smartphone well in advance of availability so that developers have time to create and certify as many applications as possible.
