Hi guys! Can i cx w u all somethin? Which do u think i should buy? P990i or N80? I'm still in dilemna of which 2 get... btw, wat is e video resol n at how many fps 4 p990i? Does it c/w built-in simplified version of photoshop like n90 has?

    I am wondering about the difference in screen size between the p910 and the p990.

    Some of you said the diagonal was reduced from 2.8" to 2.76". Suppose that this is true (I'm not sure but I trust you guys)
    My belief is that the actual area of the p990 is larger! Let me explain.
    The area A of the screen can be calculated as D^2/(X+1/X) where D is the diagonal and X is the aspect ration (W/H) where W is the width and H is the height of the screen. Hence only a small increase in aspect ratio can make the screen area larger.

    Suppose the pixels are squares for both screens. In this case the aspect ratio for the p910 is X=208/320=0.65. For the P990 this is X=240/320=0.75

    Hence the area of the p910 would be 2.8"^2/(0.65+1/0.65)=3.58 square inches.
    The area of the p990 would be 2.76"^2/(0.75+1/0.75)=3.66 square inches.

    My conclusion is that quite possibly (when my assumptions are correct) the screen size has actually even increased. AHA!

        the screen is only 3 mm smaller. it is big. the phone is realy smart

          I use 900, was waiting for the 990 but I found that screen is smaller. I personally will never buy a small screen touch screen. SonyErics missed big time on this unwanted qwerty!!!! better go for imate

            Honestly a lot of people were looking for radio and a better camera with flash including however i think P910 has been successfull for its unique design and that gigantic screen i love the most. The small screen is definitely dissappointing and 90% of the p910 users dont use the qwerty keypad..

                just wait guys...there will be a p970,with a better design but no qwerty.but it looks lovely,the p970 i mean,it is kind of like the old sony Z series.

                  Attention Please,I am really impressed with your new improvement on this P990.My customers are waiting for it and it would have been so beautiful and well accepted from the bottom of my heart if this phone can be out before this end of this Year.I mean before Xmas.I like this phone so must it Thousands of my Customres are waiting for it.Good Thinking,Good Products.More power to ur Elbow!

                    I was about to buy Nokia N70 until I saw SE 990. But it is too long to wait until March 06. would you please tell me the exact date of seeing it on the market? I will decide to buy N70 or wait SE P990.. should I wait for SE P990? And I agree with all others who criticize screen changes (smaller than p910)

                      What?!? They sacrifice half the screen for a full keyboard? Like we ever need one when virtual keyboard is so much better. I'd very much prefer full screen and no keyboard AT ALL. WLAN is nice (though a 802.11g is preferable ^_^ ). Everything else is perfect. But I'll stick with my P910 unless they decide to have P990 in full screen as well.

                        I think this is a step back. Replacing the screen size with a onboard keyboard is madness. Just read the reviews. People do not like blackberry because of its large size keyboard but the push email software.

                        What was wrong with p910 style qwert keyboard at the back of the flip?

                        The general design is so disappointing!

                        Numeric keypad is not as good and professional as P910.

                        This is definetely a no starter for me. I will look at the alternatives.

                            I am a die-hard Sony Ericsson P910 fanatic who couldn't wait for the next model-up to be unleashed. Only to be dissapointed by the reduction in screen size. Nobody ever complained about the screen being too big. Seriously, who decided that the customer wanted to see less on the screen? Unbelievable bad move. Ok, the smaller screen is the only complaint but its importance carry so much weight that many people like myself may decide not to purchase the P990 and keep the P910 based soldly on that reason alone. Upgrades should always be based on what the customer wants. Read the reviews! If it aint broke dont try to fix it. Why shoot yourself in the foot when everything else about the p990 is great?...Bad move.

                              SAM. thats what im trying to figue out. its either there are alot of companies scared of this phone so much that they have to lower the ratings. or alot of people are lazy and just hit the vote button without even scoring... i wonder.

                                I want to by P-910i and also i want to upgrade to newer one p-990, but i am afraid about it because it seems like normal phone not PDA, really i don't know why big company like sonyericsson made product like that, the PDA noe is DIE, what can i do?

                                  Very dissapointed in the keyboard taking up half the screen, I thought that after the p910i they would be doing away with the keyboard totally. I mean there is a virtual keyboard which is fantastc. I love the wlan.

                                    i donno why p990 need to have build in keypad inside the phone when u clip open your keypad. whats the point? that cause the phone has smaller screen. i m using 900, not getting 910 cuz they almost the same, so exciting to wait for 990 but this time really disappointed me. And the design is not good, like lower class phone

                                        I am going to get N70 instead of this.
                                        Sorry SE, the P990 may have better features than Nokia, but it really looks like a cheap plastic phone compare to N70.
