look here:
http://khvs.s5.com/p990screen.htm
its not as small as you think. it just seems much much shorter. i used to think the same before i saw this picture. sure pdas must have a big screen, but this screen more than accomodates your needs.

Re. Jason
Biger screen mean more power is needed, and once you got biger screen, you may say it's too big for your hands to carry... anyhow, plus SE put 5 different radio together on one PDA as p990 and the first ever...

Re. umm
English as an international lang. is loaded along with all others.
it may not compatible (i wanted to know too if it works) with Verizon or Sprint as they must have their pre-load program for the network, but for sure to work work GSM carriers in U.S.
Price is very important, I will not pay more than $700 on this phone, on top of this $700 you need to add a 2GB memory stick and it'll cost around $200 today since it only came with a 64MB, that make this phone 2 $900... a laptop pc wih 1.8GB CPU price... Just for portability...
So, I'd like to ask SE "How much?"...

umm... agree with the two below me. anyways, im moving to japan and was wondering if i get the phone in Japan will it work like an english phone (language, text, etc.)? if i come back to the US will it be compatible with the service providers like verizon, sprint, etc.? thank you. p990 looks great.

are you guys kidding me! did you actually look at the size comparison? the space they remove is so small it shouldnt make a difference at all. and it was a good move because the keyboard on the p910 seems frail and this will definitely give you a more firm grasp while typing. sure i wouldnt have minded a bigger screen but the up outweighs the down. just a 2 megapixel camera!? thats like the best resolution for phones right now. much better than the p910s. also, it was right for them to use flash because it makes the phone much lighter. it has enough memeory for a phone, but if you want more just put in the 1GB memory stick. i dont know if you guys really dont like it, or your just mad because they come out with a bette $800 model every year. im sure sony ericsson took into consideration all these problems. im sure they dont spend millions on r&d just for the heck of it. if they come out with a newer model, expect it to be a much better one.

Re. All
If u want a big screen, go get a laptop computer.
QWERY keypad is needed for communications in words. it's too low if on the back of flip(p910), p990 is just good.
Camera improved, but expecting 3mp. but no one have it yet.
Battery life? since bluetooth use the most power, hoping this p990 has better battery life.
WLAN is great to have, Data service is cost arm and leg from GSM carrier. I paid $20 in one day on my p910 on just data services.
One last thing is hoping a better speaker, like stereo speakers and louder sounds.
Dear all, we should all be happy on this so small sized and have so much features...

:-( forget about p990 guys. if you want PDA, p910 are good enough for both design and features. Wait for p1000 :) because the design of p990 worse than p910. the only difference in feature is wifi thing. Not much different right? but the price should be....a huge different because price for p910 have droped off. However, the price of P910 have drop too much within the year, you guys think so?? I bought it at $1000, not it's only $400 to $500 hixhix. too badddd.

It's a gigantic let down. was expecting an improved version but designers probably forgot its target market. Screen is so minute that its hard surfing the net or opening an excel file. Design and look was however its saving grace as the new p990 looks more solid and aesthetically inviting.

i've been wating for the new p-series to come out and now that its out...I just want to ask "What were they thinking?" reduce the size of the screen for the thumb keyboard that has no use what so ever? and what's up with the WLAN b? if its going to be coming out later then it should have been WLAN g. what a let down on the screen...its a shame.

Well what can i say? Disapointment is not the word. I really was expecting something much more than what the P910 is. I guess will have to keep waiting or switch brands.

I firstly saw this phone on www.testmobil.com, however as mentioned there, the small screen disappointed me. It's sure that I will not buy it.
