Today i m going to buy this phn can u pls confirm me that is there is any problem now regarding KEYPAD of this phone.

Just got my phone about 2 hours ago, all I can say is this phone is awesome. I upgraded from my SE T616 which I've had forever.
BTW, mine is manufactured W(eek)28, so I shouldn't (knock on wood) have to worry about the broken key problem. Ordered from addictedtophones.com in case anyone's looking for a Week 27 or later S500i.

I had the S500i...for 3 days before keys 1, 3, 4 and 6 cracked. Luckily, I bought mine from a reputable eBay seller, who has their own shop, and they were quite happy for me to return the phone and gave me a full refund. I researched this - very common and widespread issue - and then yesterday, I stumbled across a site which said that German SE have actually announced there is a problem - a reaction between the GREEN metallic paint and the materials used to make the keys. Hence why there are no yellow models of the phone with this problem - to their knowledge, anyway. Up until this point, they were refusing to admit there was a problem and also refusing to replace the handsets under Warranty - claiming the cracks were due to 'excessive usage'. Now, I'm not sure what the UK position is on this - or any other countries - but it seems that progress is being made, so hopefully those who have got this problem and are unfortunately not able to get a refund or replacement at the moment, their Warranties may mean that soon, SE will replace the handsets or keypads free of charge. Despite all this, I was horrified at the poor quality of the phone - though I was very impressed with the groovy themes and the flashing lights. But up until this phone, I had been a loyal SE customer. I am now using a Nokia and am a little hesitant about returning to SE anytime soon.

is it really true about the green on the keypad an the resin or whatever having a bad reaction and causing he cracks??
whoever posted that below, is it true..???
and how soon are they gonna fix it? if anyone knows thanks in advance
sigh..i really want this phone!!!

I have this phone for 2 weeks and it's really nice... great sound and great camera. and as well, nothing has happened to the keypad !! and here in Iran i haven't seen anybody suffering from cracked keypad !! i think all the Persian keypads are OK !! the only thing that I'm worried is that I've changed 3 memory cards and all of them had some problems in their first day ! the phone cant recognize the card after having some files on it ! i'm afraid it's because of the phone itself... im giving it to SE center today for a Check Up :)

The slot cover for the M2 card is so weak. The super tiny hinge on the right broke when I tried to open the slot. Does anyone have a fix? I'm just currently taping it with clear scotch tape.
My keys haven't cracked but I don't text at all. Reading all the horror stories on the keys is getting me worried mine will crack as well.
It's still a nice phone.

HEy everyone this is a classy phone and all but the rumors about the crackin keypad are true just now before typing this little message my number 7 key cracked right down the middle another thing this phone doesn't have that my sony w850i had is flash and radio I liked those two features it was a downgrade definitely it's just the look people it just looks nice and the features are next to none but all and all I rate it a 7 out of 10

Looks like everyone is having the same problem of cracking keypad....i got my for 3 weeks before 2 keys was found broken.....never expect this to happen so soon. what happen to quality nowsadays????? :(

Cracked keypad complaints have seem to gotten SE's attention worldwide, I've gotten confirmation from the US and here in Thailand that the cracked keypads are covered under warranty and they are aware of the problem

i've had mine for a few weeks now, great phone, apart from the software on it is really buggy, i cant send txt's off it at all.
