uzak, 14 Apr 2009sure not less than 1000$X1 was 1100 USD first, but after a few weeks they were given away free with a cheap contract. I have tried a couple of times but I could not live with the unreliable performance.
Idou is less anticipated. More competition and less attractive for novice customers.
Looks cheap, and bulky. X1 is more elegant.
So, I assume it will be a hard sale for even 600-700 USD.

1000mah battery is far from barely enough for this monstrous phone..
I think 1350 is minimum and 1600 is ideal battery capacity.. for 12mp camera and very large screen like that

Indra was unable to give any basic info on the model except sensor specs which is published on the net and meaningless since there are so many other factors determine image quality.

I have written my points already and someone afterwards asking ? - just read it!
He pretends to be knowledgeable:
- no engineering education
He also pretends that there is inside information from a ´friend´.
(while for me he sounds like an outsourced rep with PR garbage info)
As far as smartness? :))))
A whole paragraph from Indra:

He keeps pushing the sensor specs - meaningless.
No info (with reputable official info):
1: who will produce the model
2: where will be produced
3: what the h.ll they were thinking when decided on 1000mAh battery
4: HD recording
But, of course he is totally convinced that Idou will be a perfect phone - without any foundation.
Naturally, any nonsense does not bother me! :)
So anybody with inside info please let us know about these 4 questions.

As far as thickness - it is matter of taste.
I do not hate a phone because it is thick - just like I do not hate Japanese cars because they are (generally) not low enough (compare to Porsche, Ferrari).
I think for the 2010 market the technology is available to make slimmer and better phone than Idou!
Idou was officially introduced - with this thickness! Some i...t wrote that it will get slimmer :))))
The battery was also presented - Idou was presented with 1000mAh battery.
If SE changes the battery that is fine with me. It would be silly / stu...d not to do so.
The big question why SE so quite about the battery?????????????????????????????

Many website question the 1000mAh battery!!!
(not only me!!! :))
and SE do not respond! Do not say it was a mistake. Do not say they never wanted to release the model with such a stu..d battery.
The only explanation I can think of that they were so s...d that they really wanted to release the model with that battery.
But I take other explanation :))))

No one know's for sure what the memory will be but many assume it will be shipping in either 8GB or 16GB models. SE might also ship it in 32 GB. Go to youtube and watcha video by phonedog.com

The IDOU kicks ass. Nick is mental. I have the K850i and it is beyond amazing, if u know how to use it. SE beats the crap out of nokia and samsung.

There isn't much info available, but it seems the slimmest part is 15 mm. It's more than 15mm with the camera slide. I might be wrong, so no offense. Cheers!

Thank god for sony making this phone now I can rub it in all you apple fanboys. Oh and yeah I did hear about the new iphone 3.2 mega pixel. Wow its amazing how many people buy something just for the apple name. Makes me wonder if I put apple on a peice of s##t will people buy it?

that was right that someone said, i forgot the name, u can read it, "how can this se insider give info to someone about idou, coz it shd be secret or whatever. even if it is ur friend, he can get fired from se."
and also, this se insider met indra so often, and indra said, he is working on idou.. ???? even he met indra on monday, it shd be a working day. right?? he must be busy on the idou project rather than met someone.
i just coudnt understand this... really..

What's your problem?!!! Are you sick or are you mentally insane?!! You always say that idou is like a brick and the battery is terrible. Then allow me to ask you, do you see any real life idou? NO! Do you think the one shown at MWC is the final product? NO! You filth! You always say that indra provide false information, then why don't you look at yourself. You also provide a lot of false information like the thickness of the idou and the battery capacity. Like I said before, there's no actual idou at the market yet and you are already coming up with all these statements. How childish! Take a hike!

You say indra misinform people and he have no shame right? I believe you should say that to yourself, you shameless lowlife! Ever heard of the term "hope"? Nick, I've known you for a long time and I know you are not the type of person who badmouth other people admired products for your own individual gain. If omnia HD is so good(which I have to concur as idou and HD are both high end excellent products), then why don't you go there and spread the pros of HD so that you can give more hope to the people there^^
Lastly to Indra,
My highest salutations. Despite always being badmouthed, yet you still come back to us and spread the future features of the idou(although many claims it isn't true but I sincerely believe that those will be the features of idou!). You gave us all hope and thus we are now really looking forward to get it. So what if those people badmouth you and your friends? Always believe in the term karma. They will get what they deserve! I thank you for keeping our hopes alive and again I give you my most sincere gratitude.^^

why bother attacking indra if hes just giving his opinion about the phone. ive been reading this thread for a week now, and while i dont agree with everything he says, i still cut him slack for the effort. im only posting now because this flaming has gone out of hand and its becoming a bother filtering out important post from the usual junk.
youve been going on and on about it being 15mm comparing to some other 12mm phones. that actually got me worried for a bit so i went to check the specs of my w960 - 16mm! so whats the problem? i find my 960 alot more comfortable to hold than so many slimmer phones so 15mm should be just right. if your opinion differs, you dont have to hate on the phone because of that. go get the 12mms then, id stick to my 15ish.
the camera has not been tested so whats the commotion all about? the battery was used only for the demo. whether or not they will use it in the final product is uncertain, but as far as SE is concerned, theres no official statement that itd use 1000mAH, another undetermined spec.
12mpx, fine, its debateable the effects of this approach on a mobile camera, but SE say they have a plan to make this work, lets wait until then before bashing it.
hd video. tsk. just like the 12mpx war, the hd war should follow, but just because its not SE claiming it first we wouldnt hear an end. when samsung say hd, what comes to mind? the resolution isnt it? same with 12mpx. taken the videos from the samsung are pretty neat, for a mobile phone, but can you really compare those videos with a hd video from a store? this proves that apart from the resolution of a capture, the quality matters a great deal, so the reason why you arent eating your socks wrt the unusually high resolution of samsungs videos compared to other vga times is beyond my comprehension. and yes, a wvga video can look better than a 1280x768 video when resized, depending on the codec, sampling rate, frame rate, pixel size, bit rate, quotiety etc.
capacit. vs. resist. while there are so many reasons to use a capacit. screen, the fact that theres no hardware keyboard is going to make me use handwriting alot more than before. onscreen keyboards are hell and you know it, you only need to use an iphone for a week to tell you that. capacit. screen can handle keystrokes fine, but def. not as well as resist. and its speed were looking for isnt it? plus resist. screens have point accuracy and can handle applications better. clear winner? no. capacit. screens are generally clearer, being glass and are more resistant to damage. multitouch ... resist. screens can handle as well, only more difficult to implement. im sure wed get a few resist. multitouch apps soon enough.
is there anything else im missing?
and btw, a wider screen almost would mean a thinner device because theres much more volume underneath the screen ...

impressed with toshiba tg-01, 9.9mm thick but 70mm width...? then why should be bothered of 15mm thick with 54mm width. we should to compared for all of dimension spec not just the thickness.
for 70mm wide devices, i prefer to stay with my e90 brick.
