you've had to put up with pretty dire phones for the last 2 years. just use another company for crying out loud!

another point, why assume the camera will be amazing? the k850 was a waste of time and the c905 seems to be the worst of all the 8 megas, so why hold your breath?

I find that this will be a good phone.
Hopefully it will not be over my budget.
It's quite slim and i think it should be good.

OmniaHD has a better OLED screen, while Idou is ordinary, OmniaHD has capacitive, while Idou is resistive..

but like the other people, im still more interested on IDOU than OmniaHD..

maybe because of the EXMOR Camera... because i love camera phones..

Sony and best material? :)

You must be kidding.

Do a search on ´X1 cracked case´

SE shipped units with defected material - with cracks.

Sony spends over a billion dollar on image. That works as we know :)

Only thing Sony is still good at is TVs.

In everything else they lost market share and lost quality.
The laptops are ridiculously expensive and unreliable. The customer service is just horrible - unless you speak their native language - outsourced to India.

How many of us have mp3 players made by Sony?
Monitors? PC? etc.

Se even worst than Sony since they are in the red - loses money each quarter.

SE/Sony products about style and hype not about quality and performance.

Once in a while we can see a decent product (TV, recorder, etc.) but it is getting very rare lately.

The fact that even on the official site they refuse to give fundamental tech data is just supporting their ideology that they do not want informed customers.

hey! are you dumb! look at walkman seconds best selling mp3 players and psp the best selling portable game console, and play station the best selling game console, and bravia the best selling lcd tv and vaio the seconds best selling laptop! and sony has the most toughest product(even if they dont advertise it as a tough product) because sony uses only the best materials to all of their products, and after they announced their product they will make a test if is safe and tough to use, unlike nokia,samsung they just make big specs. but they dont mind if its safe and tough(like the incident happaned in the philippines where a nokia n91 explode) and ( samsung make the worst flex in the slide in their phone) like e250 and other samsung slide phones

idou will use a special 28mm lens, which is equivalent to 35mm in digital cameras..

try to research more about exmor..
"12mp? wtf? small lens? sensor? who needs 12mp?" -stupid people..

again, it will use the new technology of sony, called EXMOR..

like S001(SE Japan), which uses EXMOR, idou will also use it..

so what if the lens are small, look at sony`s cybershot t series, it has a small lens and sensor but the image quality is excellent

s.e. is just giving a sneak peak of this phone so they just announced that this phone will have a 12 mp to make people get excited, and if this phone will be released they will announced the full specs. of this phone... and this phone will be manufactured in japan so this phone could possibly have a bravia phone, a walkman phone with excellent music processing chip, and a cybershot phone that will have sony`s exmor lens,

SE Idou.....SE Idon't! This phone reminds me of a man with an extraordinarily long nose or a woman with a huge arse! What is the point of having so many megapixels when the lens is too small to take advantage. Like the long nose/huge arse scenario all this does is waste space and attract attention. SE are hyping this phone for the gullible. The sensational 12MP claim is an attempt to blind people to the shortcomings of the phone eg the lens is too small to accurately use the 12MP. Secondly there is no optical zoom. It is a farce to pretend that this is a powerful camera when there is no optical zoom. Thirdly there is no hardware QWERTY so speed typing is difficult. Note that the world speed typing record for mobiles was achieved on a hardware QWERTY. Do people really want to type on a screen that will be laden with sweat and grease?? Fourthly the resolution of the screen is not high enough. Two years ago Toshiba G900 had an 800*480 pixel, three inch screen. SE Idou is 3.5 inches with far less resolution (640*360) Looking at pixel density:
Tosh G900;96711px/sq inch
SE Idou; 44016px/sq inch.
It is clear that Idou's screen is regressive and does NOT represent progress! SE Idou....SE Idon't!!!

struggling to think of any reason why the Idou is better than the omnia HD.

the only advantage this has is the xenon flash, but otherwise it seems to me the HD is a better unit.

but, 12mp without good imaging processor? etc like n86? 28mm, f aperture..
what about videorec quality?
Im a big fans of soner..

soner at japan hav better spec sheet. exmor imaging engine, better walkman processor chip, better screen,etc..
wake up sony, idou is for worldwide, come on sony, dont make idou like a fool. at a glance, the spes sheet is good, but, after tested, it is not worth it n not good enough to compare to the others..

Moin, 14 Mar 2009This phone is gonna be so awesome!Hope the speed is fast. I need to change my P990i since I bought it in Nov 2006... Talk about lasting, Not a single phone offers what the 990 offer. Qwety, touch screen and keypad at the same time even up till today. :)

TFT 16 Million colors, come on Sony this should be OLED 16 Mill, nice specs but TFT screen is so disappointing.

2: chip
3: and image processing

You can get a panasonic small camera for 300-400 Euro and no comparison between them.

But, you can get a decent picture with a phone now but nothing like I would put in an album.
It will not replace my camera I take for vacations.
