You are right, that it can happen that when the phone is open the signal is full and when it's closed the signal drops. I had the same problem in the UK, Vodafone replaced it for me, you can't do much about it.
Regarding Picture caller ID, if you update the firmware available on the Sony Ericsson website, you will start to get Picture caller ID.

As I know, even you have DRM packager in your hand, you can add DRM protection too your MP3 files, I'm having one and I tried many times but failed..It's annoying that I have the phone but I cannot use MP3 file

I have the Sony Ericsson V800 in the USA. This phone have the best signal reception ever for Cingular service. But, few days ago i noticed that when the phone is fliped open the cignal meter is full, but once i flip close the phone the cignal vanishes. Could anybody help me with that.
Also, Does this phone have a Caller ID picture on the external screen? Please let me know how it works and if you have any info a bout a software update.

I am so pumped - after tons of research and finally deciding between the Z800i, the new Moto PEBL, and the Nokia 8801, I finally decided on the Sony Ericsson baby, and I am psyched - should get it in the mail in three days. Has anyone on these boards gotten the phone for Cingular in the US, and do they know a good information resource to configure the phone for over here?

hey! i want to ask what kind of restrictions are set for choosing MP3s as ringtones...is there anyways to get rid of the restriction? then is it completely impossible to chose any mp3 u like as ringtones?

I've had the phone for a month now, it seems good, apart from the fact that i can't use any mp3 that i want to it says that the DRM protection key is missing. All other phones allow any mp3 and this one doesn't? Isn't there any way of getting rid of this drm protection?

1thing! The clever designers @ SonyErr... put the speaker on the flip side so when u try to watch tv.. sound coming out from back of the phone. I coulda thot of that!!

This phone is awful i got it and kept it only for 2 weeks it only has 7mb of memory that enough for 2 songs so i have to go out and buy a memory card, its also huge like a brick i know its 3g but there are much smaller phones now. But considering my wife hasnt video called once with her 3g phone that she has had for a while. I think im going to sell this in an online auction and buy the much more suitable k750i, considering i dont want to leave sony ericsson and i take pictures more than i use 3g.

Question about this phone- I often plug my headphones in and use my phone as an mp3 player. I wanted to know if this phone is decent for that kind of thing. Yeah, Stupid question but im very serious about buying this phone and i want to know what im buying before i pay $300 for a phone.

Of course this is a 3G phone,, even i dont have this phone, but i've known the features which is similar with S700. It has a motion eye which can be rotate 180degrees,, can be a video camera (video call),,,and greatt!!!!
