Patilan, 24 Mar 2010Hi all, Does anyone have experience with Nokia 5800 and ... moreI had 5800, it's not bad, but it's nothing compared to Vivaz. I am currently using Satio. The screen on 5800 is good, but when compared to Satio, it looks like you compare a CRT to LED!

I have had this phone for about a week now, and thought I would share my thoughts.

My previous phone was the SE 905, I initially looked at the Satio as an upgrade, but was really put off by the software issues. Vodafone told me that they have now withdrawn this handset from their range because of this. Cameras are important to me on my phones.

I already own an itouch and also I didn't really want to be another apple bot.Everyone has an i phone, I like to be different. However. I must say though, once you have played with the iphone and experienced the intuitive and ease of everything on it, then you can't help but make mental comparisons with your new device.Apple have got this so right.

Thankfully though apple must have said - 'We will make everything great about our phone, but stick in a crap camera to give everyone a chance..'

I use the camera a lot, and the Vivaz has a great one, plus some pretty slick video.

The new Viviz is also very compact, its smaller than you expect, but in quite a nice way. The phone comes with a protective front see through cover, but this actually scratches very easily, so I'll be changing this to something better..

The touch screen is 'OK'. Again the comparison with the iphone - its in a different league. Some firm pushes are needed with the Vivaz and they don't always register. In the main though, its acceptable. Manually finding a contact (without alphabet search) is a fumbling nightmare of cursing as the name you see briefly shoots past. ( I do have normal fingers !)

Most menus are pretty intuitive although I had to Email SE to find out how to assign my own text sound and adjust the ringtone volume. This one was buried.

I am quite a light user - battery is fine. Internet I have - but I get really frustrated with this, so don't bother to use it much. Apple is much better experience.

Speaker is average - not stereo, but the headphones supplied sound excellent. Thats ok for me, as I don't use this to listen to music out loud.

For making and receiving calls - again no issues. Signal is fine where I am. Sunlight legibility is just about OK.

I must say, this phone is growing on me. I wasn't sure at first, but now I am looking forward to the next 18 months.

My 18 month contract is 300 minutes, UL texts, UL internet £25 + £6.95 insurance, plus I had to pay £63 towards the phone. Hope this helps..

Andreas, 23 Mar 2010I'm no engineer, but I still don't feel that the implicatio... moreThat's true. It is a matter of personal tastes but my point here is that SE should not have included something which is associated with low-end budget models on a phone with such high-end capabilities.

The Vivaz is the fist HD phone by SE and the least they could have done was to match up to the Omnia HD which incidentally sports a capacitive display.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Capacitive touchscreens are made for precision my friend. Even in GSMArena's video on the Vivaz, you can see that there was an instance where he had to press twice just because the resistive technology did not register his input. This would have never happen on a capacitive touchscreen.

A stylus for a touchscreen phone? Where have you been for the past 20 years? My dad owns one of those old Palm PDAs which were made about a decade ago and it needs a stylus to register input. Here we have a HD 8MP phone and it still needs a stylus? That's how old resistive technology is.

I don't own a Vivaz per say but I do run a Telco shop so you could say that I've test-run just about every phone including the Vivaz.

The only touchscreen phone i've owned is LG Viewty and i find its sensitive not as bad. Of course i thing the calibrating of the screen is a standard procedure that just have be done in order not to have complains in the future. If Vivaz has no worse sensitive screen than Viewty, i think it would not be a problem to buy Sony Ericsson (again, after K750 ;)
The sound from the speaker isn't as important feature as others are, i think. After all, no phone (even iPhone) is able to replace the hi-fi and surround systems. Unlike the headsets - they partially do it.
What i want to know is if there are issues, that can not be fixed in future software updates and calibrations.

I just bought this phone last night, it is CRAP.

It is hard to type despite calibrating the touch sensor.

The sounds from the speaker is crap and low volume.

The photos are nice but look bit unreal.

                      Regret buying this.

To all the close-minded people who insist that capacitive is better than resistive, try using the phone before you insist on your capacitive screens. The screen on the Vivaz has the sensitivity of a capacitive screen, with the precision and convenience of a resistive screen. I've let people who usually use capacitive screens try using my Vivaz, and they agree that it's just about as sensitive as their capacitive screens.

The resistive screen was one of the main deciding factors I bought this phone. I hate capacitive screens due to the fact that it's impossible to be perfectly precise on one, and that you can't use a stylus on it. I also don't see the point in having your screen sense unintended presses when your finger's hovering over it, as capacitive ones do.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970To me the Aino is some kind of strange toy that I can't see the real use for, and I don't think that would change if I had a PS3 to RemotePlay with. Don't have much opinion on that otherwise.

Nokia X6 has the benefit of having stereo speakers, and if Nokia are keeping up with with the intentions of the phone it should be a better music phone in general. Other pros include a scratch resistant display (with capacitive technology, which seems to be a popular subject...). I've handled it for a moment, and it feels good in the hand even if it's a blocky design. The dual LED flash should make it a bit better for low light photography than the Vivaz, but other than the difference in resolution I can't say anything of the picture quality.

If you want more than music, I'd say Vivaz is the better choice. It has a newer generation processor running 300MHz faster, twice the RAM and a separate graphics chip – so it should be way ahead of the X6 when it comes to smartphone functionality.
