I think this phone is an excellent option for the W Series. It makes it possible for ppl on a tight budget to still have a walkman phone.

U cant really complain about the screen or camera quality cos after all Sony erricson offers it and a lower price for this particular reason. If the screen and camera is a problem, spend more and go for a w300 clam shell phone.

I am gonna purchase this phone within this week.

        Hope it kicks a$$!

For those people who are having problems with quiet ringtones...

Go to MENU, SETTINGS, SOUND AND ALERTS
Make sure that INCREASING ALERT is off, and pump the RING VOLUME to the highest setting (8). Then turn off your phone, remove the battery for around 5 minutes... Then put the battery back in. This should give your phone a power reset... Turn on your phone. This method MAY fix some other problems you may have had (like bugs, sudden freezing etc)
Try this out and see if it is fixed...

I have noticed that the alerts on this phone are a wee bit quiet, but it seems that other users can't hear it at all... So don't listen to your music too loudly~!

Yea..i'm having the same problem..the messeage and ringing tone is very low..i've already put it to the maximum(which is 8) and its still very soft. But the sounds are louder when we use the Walkman player.

The W200i allows video to be viewed in full screen mode. But the video will lag more often in full screen, compared with normal viewing.

The W200 utilizes UBC screen technology (Ultra Bright Colour). This has been outdated by the more popular, more energy saving TFT LCD screens. TFT will produce more high quality images while not blurring when you are watching videos (etc). UBC will produce worse images than TFT. UBC tends to blur alot, and tends to 'pixelise' images more than the TFT.

The W200i can minimise both WALKMAN and RADIO, allowing you to use other phone functions while listening to songs.

The battery life has around about 260 hours standby. This is around a week. Personally, I would get around 2 days (3 days if lucky) using this phone fully (5 hours MP3 a day, 20 minutes of calling). This will vary in countries because some countries are supplying 750mAh batteries (and my W200i came with 780mAh). This will give me around about 6 hours more battery life compared to the others...)

                      Hey buddies,
i'm now an owner of a w200i.i'm going to give u short opinion abt this set.
this's a very handy set with a very strong music player (walkman)
and a very strong capacity of memory.beside it's low res. screen & lacking of bluetooth it's a cool phone for budgeted music lovers.you'll get every necessary option which r needed mostly.if u r looking for a superb music phone with most cool look in budget, u won't choose anything except this set.bye.se rocks.

Hi, Can any one tell me about its battery backup? as i own a W700, the battery isn't that good(though my usage is very less 30min of songs n 30min of calls).. is the case same in W200?

                            Thanks in advance.

Is the volume of the message alert tone really that low? I can barely hear it. I can't find any adjustment in the alert tone volume. It's loud enough if you try playing it, but not when actual messages arrive.

Got mine two days ago for 5,600 Philippine Pesos. Most of the shops I checked were out of stocks. So far so good. That's the cheapest phone with a memory card that I've seen so far. And it's even a walkman phone.

There are reports of some people using 2GB M2 cards without problems, but this is unconfirmed... Trying to test right now, but don't have time for another 2 weeks...

For video, the video size must be 176*144.
May I suggest you use the video converter SUPER. This is a freeware, and is an excellent converter... If you know a better video converter (preferably from SE, tell me!!). If you tweak some video output settings, video playback is very smooth and excellent to view (except for some blur, which can't be fixed due to UBC screen quality)...

Other than that, for those interested in buying a feature packed phone for less, this is your phone. Great and easy to use~!
