forget nokia...............mp3,radio,goodsound,camera, and every thing else wat we look in a good mobile phone.battery backup ki bahut thodi si probs hai othervise rocking...

Hi All,
Using USB Cable:
First, install the Driver Softwares and other softwares (Particularly for PC Sync and File Transfer must be installed)....and pls do not use the Disc2Fone software coz it has a bad reputation and also not flawless. After installaiton finishes, then if necessary RESART ur PC. Then connect the USB Cable to ur fone's port and then in the computer's front or back panel USB port. WIthin a second, there will b a msg "new hardware found" (WIndows XP) and after a few sconds, a new PHONE DRIVE will be created apart from ur pc's existing hard drive partitions and cd-drive, floppy drive etc. In the meantime, look at the fone, when u connect the fone to ur Pc via USB, the fone restarts and then two options come :PHONE MODE and FILE TRANSFER. Select FILE TRANSFER mode to transfer files (else select PHONE MODE for PC Sync etc.......N.B: When u select FILE TRANSFER mode, all other functionalities of the fone (menu search, call out, call in etc. will be inactive, they are active in PHONE MODE). Next, to transfer files, simply COPY ur audio-video-pictures etc and PASTE them in the PHONE DRIVE. They will be stored in the FILE MANAGER folder of the fone. After completing ur transfers, first click on 'SAFELY REMODVE HARDWARE' in the Taskbar and then select the USB Device and then only remove ur USB Cable from the PC.
***Transfering files (be it audio, video, pics, themes, games etc are very fast).
***Whenever u attach the fone with ur PC (irrespective of the MODES selected, the fone will be charged automatically.
WORD OF CAUTION:
To avoid White Screen problem and frequent hang-ups.....
(a)Don't use Disc2Fone Software.
(b)Upgrade ur Firmware version (mine is CXC1250031 R4CB020 000000).
(c)After using USB Cable, detach after completing 'Safely Remove Hardware' task.
(d)Don't transfer too many files at a time and don't fill up all the storage space coz that may cause the fone to behave slowly.
(e)Try 2 use compattible 3rd party staff (audio-video-rt-game-pics)......www.lasyk.com has a vast collection of quakity staff for many SE fones....check the site...
Camera:
W550i has 1.3MP camera. U can take nice shots in the daylight and there are many options to customise ur pics before taking the shot, even u can chage the shutter sound. There are many effects to use like "Sepia", "Black&White" etc. U can zoom also if u have selected a smaller 'size' of photo. But I must say, taking pictures at night does not always give good results.U can select the in built 'Light' (it is really strong) and can tweak the "White Balancing" settings, but still the snaps taken are not of good quality.But I must inform you as the screen is of 262K color, u can still view the pics better than other 1.3MP category like N3230.
Video Recording:
I havn't faced any issue here. After selecting camera, u can switch to Video shooting mode. Racording time lasts until the memory is fully exhausted. I personally didn't download any music video but if it is in '.3gp' format, then u can view anykind of videos. And "www.ovao.com" is a vast repository of different types of videos.
The fone is amazing fast !! I copied my my 193 contacts from my SIM card to the fone memory and it only took 4-5 seconds, I had N3230 also a few months back, and the same action took near about 48-50 seconds.

This is a GOOOOOOD phone which is a bit cheap to Buy, Features are excellent Damn the music played on this is GREAT, I wish they had done a better work if they had included a memory card slot in this phone.
over all this is a great Phone,.

one thing is missing about this phone??? you know what it is??? the MEMORY CARD slot!!! if the sony ericsson is planning to make this thing again pls... memory card slot pls... i really appreciate the design i think this is the most extremely phone made for the universe!!!

the style is more stylish than w900 but in terms of features w900 won! but this w550i is a great and a very cute phone small and rotating... GREAT PHONE cheers!!!

I had a few Nokia phones before since switching to Sony Ericsson. Nothing can compare to the W550i! Simply the BEST! I would trade all those phones just to get this unit back. Unfortunately, I had to sell it and settle with Motorola's SLVR because I overloaded it with themes and java games.

I just got this phone...
I tried plugging the USB cable into the computer and it wouldn't detect it and when I pulled it out I got the white screen... Less than 24 hours. I bought this off my friend so I don't know what exactly I can do. Currently it's at a phone store and they're seeing if they can fix it.
Anyone know how to avoid white screening in the future?
