had this phone for 4 months and the top left button breaks, no matter how hard I push it doesn't do anything, very annoying, looking for a replacement, samsung this time

W-580 is all time hit..its largest selling cell.better than all multimediahandsets. it's only for music lover.. great fun..loud..express music .its totally multimadia hansets. no option for you have..bindass ..you can go with shake it

Iniatially i felt the phone was really good, very handy, but after 3 months it started causing lots of problem, the keypad is very weak, they started cracking and the speakers also have some serious problem... i am sm frustrated with this phone. in just 3 months it started causing troubles..

Okay I owned the 810i and I loved it...
Very durable, lots of room to play around with...
I like the 580 Even more...
Except its missing its little light...
I miss my light...
And the headphones are a little quiter overall than the 810i though still rich in sound with a manual eq...
Lots of cool features, durable yet compact, and a new light in the phone with changeability with colors....
Sony is making some cool new phones...this is one of them... and
yes you need the headphone piece that comes with it to use normal headphones...that piece is also a handsfree mic and antenna for the fm radio...
As always the screens can get scratched easily...buy a case....

Oh my God this is the worst phone that I have ever got, ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have always been with O2 and was happy with their phones and service until I experienced the Sony Ericsson W580I.
I had the phone two months and then one day I noticed that one of the keys has cracked in half. I showed it to to one of my friends and she then pointed out a second key to me that was cracked. So after two months the 1 and 3 keys were cracked.
So I left the phone into O2 to be repaired by Sony Ericsson on 30th Nov 2007. It was supposed to take 7-10 working days. I never got a call about the delay with the repair to my phone. All O2 staff knew nothing, you could never get to speak to the same person. So I was in a no win situation. When I did speak to anyone who knew what they were talking about they just blamed the manufacturer! Sony Ericsson were out of stock of the phone, the phone that was offered by the manufacturer instead of this phone was only €50 even though I had paid €150 for my original phone. Again shit service from both O2 and Sony Ericsson!!!!!
So then in the new year I received a so called replacement on 4th Jan 2008. It was supposed to be a new phone. When I received the phone there were photos already on the phone of a lads night out and then a guy getting sick down a toilet. Can you believe that this was handed out to a customer! What a disgrace! Then I also noticed that the front and back do not close properly when shut. They are not flush against each other like they should be. In other words I have received someone elses faulty phone.
I have then noticed, now 11 days after I received this so called replacement phone, that the number 2 key is also now cracked. This is apparently a common problem, I was in another phone store and mentioned it and they were actually aware of the problem, so I am not alone!!! It seems to be a common problem!
I have had to send a registered letter of complaint to O2 to try and get this situation sorted. I have to return a phone 3 times before they will let me choose a good old reliable Nokia phone! Seriously everyone, stick to Nokia! Don't waste your money one Sony Ericsson!
Sorry I know I have gone on a bit, but I cannot stress it enough this is such a crap phone!!!! Choose another if you know what is good for you!

ok sum1 said that the regular headphone wires have to be connected to a separate special cable outlet befor one can enjoy music privately...is tat the case wit every1?? or is this juss one of those rare bad luck cases?

hi...i really want this phone, but the reviews that ive read are really discouraging. not fair! im confused cuz sum ppl say that its gud and there r no major probs, whreas there r sum who say otherwise. im thnkin of buying w710i. is tat ny better???????????

You can take the phone back to where you got it, as Sony know about the fault with the buttons cracking.... I work for a mobile store and in December we have about 20 back due to the same problem

well, this is a good phone indeed. but the only problem that i and many others users have got is that its buttons crack.. yess that is very true.. i purchased it some 3months ago and have cracked 4buttons of it.
I'm not sure there's any warrantee coverage for it.

Well I got this phone today because I wanted a simple phone/mp3 player. It looks nice, very modern with style and design. Well I found out the regular headphone wires has to be connected to a separate special cable outlet before I can enjoy my music. I end up with long inconvenient wires when I listen to music privately. Unless you want boombox/phone go ahead.
