    Even better, it also has voice dialing.
    I prefer it to speed dialing :)

                    bought a grey w580i last week from addictedtophones.com for $394, today they are $364 now..., man the price changes quick. I love the phone so far, I take the phone with me to the gym instead of my ipod now. the user interface is def really easy to navigate

                      Agreed, I've noticed that the battery life on this phone really sucks. My old SE even after a year lasts at leat 5 days on standby. Expect to recharge this phone every 1 to 2 days. The drainage on the phone even on standby is immense. Like 40% of battery life after 24 hours will be drained.

                              ...and in reply to person re the 580 or 610...

                              580 is:
                              Newer and cuter,
                              In grey its sexy;
                              Got pretty lights;
                              Interesting random play feature (give it a shake to change songs);
                              Bundled w a 512 card (don't know about the 610);
                              Better resolution screen (320x240).

                              610 is:
                              Probably more robustly built, being a simpler form factor;
                              Has a better (autofocus) camera;
                              Has SE new style keypad

                              You might want to go to the store and play with both first (not a hardship!)

                                In reply to Paul, yes I am finding battery drains quickly - think thats the lighting effects - SE quotes high figures for talking (when the lights won't be flashing) and standby (again when lights aren't flashing). But I'm playing with the phone a lot at the moment because its new, and think you may be doing the same - changing themes/ringtones, checking out camera quality, opening & closing the slide to feel how beautiful it is etc...When usage settles down hopefully there'll be an improvement in battery life....

                                  aft using the phone for almost 2 weeks, this is the best so far. sleek, light and u juz feel comfortable with it. I have been using SE phones, esp all the W series, this is still one of the best, though initially i tot w880i was good, sleek and light, but somehow there's the disappointment... Hi guys out there, go for it, u will sure like it... its 3S - small, sleek and STYLE... the urban grey looks COOl...

                                    just changed from a nokia 6270 to this new sony ericsson, mainly for the battery life. but i find that the sony ericsson battery deterates alot quicker than nokias in which i've always had, does any1 know the reasons for this? 6270 talktime 5h, w580 talktime 9h as told on gsmarena....

                                        Just bought the grey/blue one today after much research - Wanted something SE, slim, good screen, with some nice functions, all for about £150. Shortlisted W580, S500, W610 and W810. The last two too much like my spare K750 (esp the 810 which is a reskinned 750). The store only had the yellow S500, which doesn't have an included memory card nor decent headset etc, so choice ended up being an easy one. Only need phone w basic music/camera as I carry a mp3 player and a good 7mp ultra compact camera everywhere. Don't use mobile internet so 3g not necessary.

                                        It's a lovely looking phone and sound quality good both w calls and music. Having trouble w PC Suite - it seems to have uninstalled my old version but refuses to load up new one - Restarting, downloading suite from SE site etc doesn't seem to help. Hmm. At least disc-to-phone installs, so thrown some tracks onto it already, and I can see myself upgrading to a (relatively expensive) 1gb M2 soon for emergency listening.

                                        Because of the lighting effects built in, I think the structure is less robust than the likes of K750 & W810 - there is a bit of 'give' with the top half when the slider is open, a bit of 'squeeze' when the phone is closed, and there are noticable panel gaps all the way round the slide join - The demo model in store looked like that as well, but I thought it was just hard usage that had caused it. So maybe only 6.5/10 for build quality.

                                        This is the only let-down - the phone's great otherwise and interface/response user-friendliness easily beats the N73 it replaces for the next 6 months or so until a new contract - unfort w N73 got fed up w slow processing times esp when responding to an email or txt message, and my pda could frankly pick it up and throw it back into last week for 'smart' functionality. I love convergence but the important thing is that its gotta work well!

                                        Will post another comment in a few weeks when the w580 has had time to bed in.
