the news is that this phone is released today so good news for people who wants to buy
Sony Ericsson has finally launched the W800, a Walkman mobile phone. Apart from functioning like a conventional phone the W800 allows users to listen to music, click pictures and videos.
The W800 is compatible with standard MP3 and AAC music file formats and provides a storage capacity of 0.5 GB with the shipped memory sticks duo allowing the users to store up to 150 music tracks or 10-12 full length CDs. Part of the package is the Disk2Phone software, which makes it easy for the user to transfer music files between the phone and PC. Also supplied with the phone is a stereo headphone.
Similar to a functionality provided with most mobile phones with FM, this phone pauses the music in case there is an incoming call, while phones with FM mute the sound of the radio. The music player is operated with just one Direct Music button that plays, pauses and stops tracks, and player and phone can be used independently of each other.
The W800 weighs about 100g and has a 2-megapixel camera which includes features such as autofocus, picture light, active lens cover and digital still camera interface.
Rikko Sakaguchi, Senior Vice President, Product and Application Planning of Sony Ericsson said, "We looked carefully at what people want from a mobile digital music player and have designed a product that fits the bill."
"The W800 has great sound quality, is easy to use, has superb battery life and can store a large amount of music. It's an attractive, desirable device that combines high quality phone, camera, music and games player," added Sakaguchi.
The Walkman phone can also be used with accessories such as the MMC-60 Music cable that connects the phone to a stereo hi-fi and the HCA-60 Advanced Car Handsfree, that enables the phone to connect to car speakers.

bcoz of u guys..im confused......whether the phone holds the ability to set an mp3 as a ringtone or not. but it would be such a stupid mistake 4 SE not making the phone 2 be able to set an mp3 as a ringtone. Common sense huh? Btw, the phone is called as 'the first walkman phone' for nothing right? hahaha...at first, i thought of buying nokia 6630..but after seeing this phone..it totally changed my heart.....i love this fon...really suits my teenage needs...ahahaha!!!! can't wait to get one.

I have always liked Nokia (who hasnt?) but has alwayed liked SE. I think Samsung are cr*p and the D500 i have got proved it for me. I was looking at getting the 3230 and then the 6230i but the SE W500i has completely swung my vote, 256K colour screen, Mp4,AAC, Video, Flash and FM Radio, has got everything the 3230 has got and more but sadly no Symbian but i think it still quite a phoenominal phone. Fair do Samsung are coming out with some gems, i just feel now that SE are top of the mobile world. I loved my SE T610, a bit slow-very slow, but the W800 should be a slick operator. Sorry but Farewell Nokia, see ya in a few years. The Nokia logo dosent sell phones anymore. People actually like Samsung and SE much more.
