By the way on the Total Video converter Menu after you have imported your file to be converted, on the "Mobile" preference, choose "MPEG4 Video" button. There's a lot to choose from and so far I have a little chance to trial this settings.

Total Video Converter can convert mp4 video to play on w800i. Just need some configurations.
Audio Options:
Audio channel and Audio codec>set to Auto
Sampling rate:>Custom at 44100
Bitrate:>Custom at 64kbits/s
Volume:>255
Video Options:
Video codec:> Auto
Frame rate:> 15/sec
Bitrate:> 300
Video resize options:
Resize:> Click on QCIF(176X144)
Aspect:> Normal
So far, this settings work fine on a vertical playback but unstable on horizontal meaning slight drag. Resolution is much better than 3gp. I'm sure there's more settings fo more stable results.
On this I can prove to Mr.(coffee)Bean that I own this phone other than a sharp 903 which is much better than whatever he has.

Sorry, late on the scene here. I'm trying to convert DVd to anything that'll run on my w800i. I've just tried MPEG4 and I eventually get sound but no video. I've saved them on a 2GB card so there shouldn't be any issue with the phone except that it just spits out bits of audio. Can those of you out there in the know clarify what file type I should be converting to please.

BAD PHONE!!! I lost that rubber grip (just some cheap stick on) on the joystick... took it to SE service centre and they said I have to replace the whole joystick just for the rubber grip! And it will cost me $60 just for that!!! BAD design! BAD QA! BAD company!

MP4 is Audio(AAC=Advance Audio Compression). MPEG4 is the video format which has the ext. .asf.
I had the same experience so I assume that you are from the UK too. Mine only play 3gp video files. I manged to convert MPEG4 video but no sound and I see there's no difference between 3gp and mpeg 4 so didn't bother about it. I can live with 3gp

is there an aim program for this phone? if so, is it built in cuz i have the phone and cant find the aim program. also can anybody give me any cool links to w800 applications and games.

Owh, you just found out that ur phone has the sonyericsson website? ckckckc. Thats so years ago. Anyway, i dont find any problem with my phone so thats why i ask wheter is it necessary to upgrade the firmware or not. Do u ever have iPods? where we have to update its software whenever they have new one?? So, thats the point, thats why i asked my question. ANyway, i use google search to look at different themes, not "sonyericsson" site only. Cheers..

the SE W800i rocks overtime,its like bringing a gun to a knife fight.its memory,sound,picture quality,software is all top notch!!! i mean it!!!not 4getting all the other xtras(to much to mention)
if u thinking of getting yourself this baby go 4 it. u wont b dissapointed.

I have tried many video converters already like AVS, Total, All-in-one, Nokia Multimedia, WinAVI, to name a few. But they got the same results. Difference would be on the phone's resolution and the quality of the video that you are converting. that's why I wouldn't recommend any of them. My advise, pick one that is the easiest to use.

Hi coffee. If I were you I'll leave the phone as it is at the moment unless it starts giving you problems. Like my phone, it has everything I need and very easy to use. It has the sonyericsson website on it and I can download contents directly from it especially the Themes...they're really cool.

for everyone asking about video converter, I'm currently using a program called "ImTOO 3GP Video Converter", which was not free but was given a crack. Only downfall of the convertion for me is that the video quality is really bad, but i'm comparing it to that of my friend's psp and zen vision m.

Why upgrade when you're not having any problems. Upgrade won't give more features than the ones your phone has at present. Upgrade can only fix bugs or any improvement of the present features.
This phone is for everyone. It's simple, user-friendly, and cute.

Im currently having firmware version R1N035. The question is, is it necessary to upgrade my firmware to the latest version? Well, im not having some sort of problems with the current firmware, i just want to know whether i have to update it or not? Help is greatly appreciated..
