I just bought one of these phones last week, but had to take it back because the key pad tones (either click or tone) were cutting off after a while.

So I got another one this weekend and it was doing the same thing even before I left the store!!!! We checked all the phones and they all did that.

Is it possible that the WHOLE shipment was glitched? Or does the phone really do this?

This bothers me because I had a W810 and the click is VERY loud and doesnt cut off, whereas the W850's key tones are soft and then they cut off after a while and come back after a while.

Please email me, I NEED to know if the phone does this, or if I have to go back and tell the people to return their whole stock.

          @windz

The W850i has louder volume with the newer R1GB001 firmware. Also, of course the W810i is going to take better photos, it has AF. Its funny how the ignorant say that the W850i should have AF and macro souly because previous model Walkmans had it. If it had AF and macro it would coincide too much with the K800i decreasing the K800i's sales. The K800i is a Photographic phone, W850i is a Music phone.

          Well, thats my rant :P

If you want to download your inbox to PC forget it. Can't be done! If like me you need to refer back to some messages the only way is to copy them longhand! The 'Save' folder will only carry 10 texts and still can't be accessed from a PC. I assumed a comprehensive PC interface was standard on todays hi tech mobiles. I expected to have access to my
SMS texts, having had it for some time on my Nokia and friend's Samsung phones. With a 1GB Memory Stick I would have expected to be able to download my texts to a folder on the card and access as required via PC. No way. The phone is nice to handle but navigation is cumbersome. The music download program is tempramental so I just click and drag in Windows Explorer now. Sound quality is good and finding music I've installed is easy. The camera I find unnecessarily complicated and I miss the automatic flash facility I had on my previous phone. I have yet to take a photo I'm proud of and quick snaps are out of the question. The screen scratches easily. It does not stand up to normal use as well as phones I've had previously. All in all I am disappointed and have decided to buy another phone and keep my W850 as a walkman until my 18mth contract expires. Not what I had in mind. Sorry.

AND 1 more thing, if u need vedio call "dont get the iphone" cuz it doesn't have 3g. but if u really like the w850, its a great phone, purchase it. 1 more thing!! when u slide the phone, dont just push up hardly, push it smoothly or it will be screwed in a couple of weeks.

                            lightweight

but doesn't have MACRO mode and ZOOM options.
                            that sucks man...

                              I bought W850 few days ago . . .
its no wonder a good looking set,
bt u'll get astonished when u'll hear its volume, its too low, even the walkman volume is too low.
+ one more thing i want to share is its camera and video quality is very poor and non-satisfactory. if u compare this set with SOny Erricson W810i then u'll definately vote for W810i.
i bought this of Rs 24,500 from Islamabad.
                              with no accessory!!

other thn these few dis-qualities, its a dashing set.

i used to own a w800i then upgraded to w850i because i need to use 3G. there are a few things i kinda dont like with the w850. 1. it doesnt have the shortcut 'pause/play' button of the walkman function on its side. i still need to unlock, on and open the walkman function to make it stop playing. 2. the menu of the walkman, the my music, is not that easy to access. you have to click more first to go there. 3. the volume buttons on the side are not that prominent as the w800i wherein you can turn the volume up or down by merely 'feeling' the buttons. 4. if this is an upgrade of the w800, how come it has a smaller internal memory ? i just dont get it. 5. i still like the keypad of the w800 and the joystick. w850's too soft to the touch like i could damage it if i press too hard or too fast. well, amidst my negative feedbaks, it still is one of the better phones i've had. in fact i like the new menu of the walkman function. and now i can add the music i transfered via bluetooth to my playlist, unlike in the w800 wherein only music files that were transfered via disc2phone are allowed to be used in the playlist. i also like the screen quality and the video. camera functions are a bit better now too. i still keep my w800 though, just in case something happens to w850.

to those who have this phone

have you tried uploading videos to your phone(from you comp) and does it play? because i tried uploading music videos to mine but it wont play... the ones that come close to playing dont play in the end either. After i click on view it says something like unable to play video.. any help would be good thanks!

I disagree with the loudness, it is not as loud as my W800. I used to have level 4 and it was very loud, and I could hear it in my bag, but with the W850 on level 4 it is very quiet. Annoying you have to file photos and videos via a computer, when I try and manage files into a file, it just sits in Pictures rather than the file I want them to go to. Battery life is amazing.

                                        Heya Ppl,
This Phone Rocks! I've had it for a couple of days now and so far so good. I don't see what everyone finds the problem with the directional keypad?? Its fine! May take some time to get used to but does its job in the end! The camera is gr8, good walkman playback, comfortable keypad, fast UI. Just one thing that annoys me though is why everytime I change the theme the menu icons don't change! anyone find the same problem? any answers? otherwise its got EVERYTHING :) One of the best phones i've ever had!
