When converting your music use AAC format @ 128 kbps, it sounds just as good as a 190+kbps Mp3, but is half the size, which means you can store more music! ;)
What was your last phone?

@ Darren88
I'm with O2 and pay £15 a month for 200 anytime mins and 100 texts. My 12 month contract is up next month, so I phoned O2 yesterday and asked if I could have the same £15 deal for another 12 month, they said yes :)
I then went on to say can I have the W850 as an upgrade, they again said yes :) BUT I would have to pay £50 for it, as it's a new phone.
£50 isn't bad for a new phone! I can sell it for that in 12 months time :)
@ Everyone
If you are due to renew your contract, ask them for what you want, if they don't let you have it then say you are going to cancell at the end of the 12 months!
They then put you through to someone else that has a wider range of phones and tariff's to offer you, this is how I got the £15 deal last year ;) Plus for the 1st 6 months I had double texts and minutes.

You should exit the 3g network somehow as I've read and that increases the battery life.
I'd also like to hear more impressions about the battery life, with avarage usage (2h mp3/day when going to work, few calls, couple of sms, some photos)
BTW photos: still looking fine @ 800x600 but not above!

There are too many variables to give acurate opinions about battery life.
From reports I've read you can play the walkman for over 24 hours solid still make and recieve calls take pictures etc... which I think is good but others may disagree.

is the battery life really that low? why is there conflicting reporst about the battery life? i read on a separate forum that the battery life is good and now there's a post here that says the battery life is poor?

Ok I now have this gorgeous little phone. I cant fully review as ive never had a 3g phone so my SIM needs to activated taking 48 hours :(
Anyway initial impressions are excellent. Although phone is plastic it may not have the same appeal as the chrome look of say the n91 but it IS sturdy and good quality. The slider feels secure and the buttons responsive. To be honest the model in the o2 shop did have a slightly loose slider but when you consider how much of a battering that display has taken from people in the opening week its not actually that suprising.
Walkman wise player is organised and easy to uuse, although only 1 speaker compared to w550i's 4 the music is still excellent. Very loud and good clarity.
Obviously 1gb card in the bundle is a beauty and after swapping it with the 2gb card from my sony psp means loads of music for me :)
Will try to answer more functionality questions once my new SIM has activated. Please feel free to contact me for answers I will try to help.
Prices for all from UK o2 are:
CONTRACT - up to £20 -----> £130
£25-£35 -------> £50
handset only --> £240

Great phone,it got all the features i wanted.great sound, and very stylish(IMO)i got the white one btw.the only disadvantages i found are
-the camera seems to be a bit dark(or is it just me?)
-and quite low battery life...
other than that,i think it's just the perfect phone for me.

For the love of god people ('antonian' in particular), read the past posts!!
The 'indicator light' on the top is actually a light sensor -adjust the brightness etc. to your surroundings.

not for the sms maniac or big thumb! ;p. support more music files (aac+,ra8,wma).but album art only with mp3 files... :(
sound quality with speaker is great, but with earphone, only with high bitrate mp3s,wma with 64kbps sound quality are good, aac+ seems bad at 48kbps compare to nokia n91.not test yet on ra8.

To athresh & others,
Having had k750, W810 and now W850, Ican tell you the main differences:
First of all, all of them are excellent mobile phones (rich amount of options and excellent batterylife).
W850 vs W810:
Plus: Stand By screen with hour, messages, missed calls, appointments or to do list (on the w850). On the W810, the stand-by screen stays balck with no information on it.
IMO is more sophisticated on the W850. For example, you have several alarm times, recurrence for your appointments in the agenda, time appears in every menu, predictive following words while type sms, better message visibility (up to 8 lines) when you only see 4 or 5 in the w810.
On the w850, you have several new graphical theme which means that not only the colout of the menu change but also the graphical icons... (w810 no)
Sound with the external speaker is clearer and better on the W850, soun during call in equivalent though w850 has a bit more clarity.
W810 is edge. (and no possible way to turn this off) That means use of more power. If you don't need this, the battery will last shorter.
W850 is 3G but if you don't need that, you have the possibility to turn the option off and so, get a longer battery lifetime. (up to 1 week).
W850 is sober and so is W810.
I prefer the slide system of W850 because no need to pay attention to lock keys before putting the phone in your pockets.
So, as to me, W850 is better choice (phone comes with MS 1GB). But W810 is great choice also but several improvments on the w850.
The MP3 player is great since it's a new version.
Screen is bigger and time appears in big characters.
Avantages of the W810:
The screen is smaller but more colourfoul.
Camera equivalent. 2 MP with autofocus (W850 has NO autofocus but a better lens which brings the same, see a better result)
Sound from the player is also excellent though the interface is older.
In summarry, I advice W850 not because it's far better then W810 but because it has plenty of light improvments in every menu and because buying W810 now is like buying an old car model when the new model is already released. You'll get a better price when you will sell your phone in the future.

athresh its personal choice mate. We cant tell you what you should or shouldn't buy.
Personally Im leaving in a couple of hours to pick up this phone from my local o2 shop. To be honest I dont believe there is a huge difference between them. What do you really want?? I dont want the w810 as its a candy bar design and Im not a fan of these phone, too busy to look at and way to much chance of buttons getting accidently pushed.
I couldnt stand the w550 swivel design although points for design. This slide phone is perfect for me, but maybe not for you??
Decision time mate :)

IMO, W850 is better.
Advantages over W810:
Supports A2DP
Better screen resolution
3G/UMTS
Improved music player
Bundled 1GB MSPD
(Awesome design)
Disadvantages:
No autofocus
Only one LED flash (W180 has two)
Slightly thicker
That's pretty much it...
