singlelayer- i agree about the camera but i feel that only when gsmarena compares the final photos in a review, can i or anyone truly say what the difference in camera is.

about my answer to sfx i am sorry. i was telling the truth. i use google and other mobile sites that i have accumilated over the past year.

      hi,

does the centre 'play/pause' button which is in the middle of the d-pad also act like select on the joystick? i.e on the k750 or the s700

thanks if anyone can answer, I hope it is, dont want to have to use the left or right softkeys

I can't imagine there'd be any used W850i's about yet, seeing as though it hasn't been released yet -unless it's a pre-market version (which is likely to have dodgy firmware)! Also, what currency are we talking here -USD? The final quality of photos produced with the W850i's camera is still a little unclear; although it lacks autofocus, SE might have used slightly different technology. Personally I'd wait a week or two and check the W850 for yourself.

        Hope this helps!

i use d k750 currently but this phone looks and sounds great. maintaining d bar shape would hav been better but lets see what SE can offer wit d slides. at least they've stopped making joysticks. this phone is a sure buy for me.

The term "bar" is used to describe a handset that is not disimilar to a "candy bar in shape and size. The nokia N series nokia N series for instance.

bombai29- i agree that people who want autofocus shd go for the N93. This phone is more for music.
singleplayer- i agree with you that bombai29 speaks with authority. When "sfx" asked him that question he gave some other vague answer, but he is also sensible most of the time.

                    To 'bombai29',

Your opinions are also appreciated, but I think it is a very bold statement to say,

"...the people who are interested in this phone are more the walkman type..."

I can tell you that I, along with at least 'PEyR' (who expressed his support) would like both a Walkman phone with a decent camera -if the W810 supported A2DP that'd be great; but it doesn't. I was only reiterating my disappointment -what I thought an opinion forum was for- but clearly I'm mistaken.

I personally believe that people are merely trying to combine several portable electronics into one unit they will always carry with them, but it needs to be good enough in all departments in order for it to be a complete replacement. I just comes as a frustration to see a product almost there, but falling at the last hurdle.

                    Off the record...

You often speak with an air of authority on this forum; when asked by 'sfx':

"You seem to know a lot. May i please ask how do you know so much.. I just want to know?"

You replied with (may I say a pitiful):

"i have google [?!] i have been waiting for this phone since its announcement, and i have been giving advice on potential SE greats like the w800 w810 and w900."

Don't get to carried away with your self.

singlelayer- your opinion is greatly appreciated and all but you should get over it. if you like this phone that is nice. if you dont like it without autofocus go to the nokia n93 forum or something. remember the people who are interested in this phone are more the walkman type, music listening kind of people. if they want autofocus they will get another phone okay.

                      xxx- you are right

This is a 'non-bar' handset, in that it is NOT of standard [candy]bar design. In fact it's form factor is 'slide' (as opposed to swivel, flip up/down {clamshell}).

Seeing as though I'm posting, I am going to reiterate my utter disappointment for the lack of autofocus on this model! -The W810 would be a good Walkman/camera phone; all except it doesn't support A2DP!! What a shame, since SE have recently released their new HBH-DS970 headset, which bears the Walkman logo and the familiar black and orange colours (making you think it'd work with all W-series handsets), then it turns out it doesn't! So it's only any use with this the W850 (with it's p.poor camera), the W950 (with no bleedin' camera) & the W710 (that and a bunch of non-Walkman based handsets)!!

                        Rant over.

I think bar phone means the style of it, so its not a flip phone or slide screen. it kinda looks like a bar...am i right? xxxx

which phone is better for mp3 and camra w850i or w710i

browny- if you really want a mp3 player and a phone then i would say you should buy this phone

xxx- if you have the w810i stick with it. not that this phone is bad, i just think that the benefits are not worth the price of the phone. rather get a bigger memory card and you are all set

xxx- a blogger is a website where people normally write opinions on topics and can easily send and see pictures/ videos. so a photo blogger will allow all to share photo's over the web.

someone and ase- in the case of phones in general you are correct. in terms of this phone you are incorrect. the thing you do not realise is that this is SE's first slider. being their first they are still experimenting with design vs function. with bar phones they are experts on placement on machinery. but with a slide they have to change how they work. so they probably had a lacked space to implement autofocus in their first slider but it will be back in the next phone

Neither this nor any other phone will have all the possible features in near future even if they could have. Why? Because then you will not buy any other phone, even from the same company, cause that phone will have everything in it - phone, camera, music player, bluetooth, autofocus, memory card, video player, 3g and so on...
Thats the reason they can't have all features. You bought one phone, after some time you though that you would like another features, so you bought another phone... Thats how market goes on :)

                                        To 'xxx',

The W810 has autofocus, so the photos will be better, but the W850 has a photo blogger, EDGE and supports A2DP (bluetooth stereo headset streaming).
