    iBEx (zorro)-
Accellerometres are little devices that sense the movement, usually medium to fast movement. Just like the iPhone, the Sony Ericsson K850, W910, W960 and the Nokia N82, this phone, the Sony Ericsson W890 has the ability to turn to be viewed horizontally, and the menu will change it's orientation, or the way it looks to fit the way you are looking at it.
However, it is not like the iPhone where it will sense your cheek, and turn off the display and keypad. It has a regular phone sensor that will cause the keybad to light up even more.

The A200 platform UI is the next generation of Sony Ericsson running software or OS on their phones. Since their joint venture in 2003, they've been using A100 and have been building upon it greatly. The A200 software is a big leap, being able to support hardware (the accellerometre, 32Gb SDHC or M2 HIGH-SPEED memory cards) and applications (fully rendered 3D games that uses the accellerometer sensor to control the movements in the game, full HTML web/internet browers) that require more strength in terms of operating the mentioned features above.

I was perhaps right in my guessing that instead of the large accellerometre that was included in the W910, a smaller one will be put into the W890, or it is the same size, because the pictures of the W910 seem like the device is very large.
If there is a change in size, expect to see the absence of the Music Shaker control in this phone, but for now, you may go on knowing/hoping that this phone has that function.
Knowing that this phone has the accellerometre features, functions and that this phone has the device within itself, my source was from Michell Bak from The Unofficial Sony Ericsson Blog (Forum) who has contact with many officials from Sony Ericsson. He is also very knowledgeable of Sony Ericsson.

Any more questions, and I'll be able to answer them myself, or I'll relay them onto the Forum to ask Michell and you will get a prompt answer.

    Cheers

to the anonymous that posted q}46 below:

it sounds like you know what you are talking about - can you please elaborate?
              what exactly are the accelerometers?
what is the A200 UI software?

This phone has the A200 UI software within it. It also has the Walkman 3.0 application within it, which means it uses the horizontal positioning upon the screen. You may be correct that it won't change by itself, because SE has been using 1cm^3 sized accellerometers, but there are smaller ones.

Don't be selfishly-stupid. What is important to you may be useless to others. In fact, I even forgot that some phones have flashlights. damn... it is so useless to me I don't pay attention. hehe

I cant understand one thing about S-E new models, how come none of them has flash light?!
that is a huge minus...as a customer and a fan of S-E, I'd think twice before i buy one of them!

last time i checked it was planned for the end of the year i.e. 1.1.2008.
i think it is going to be a bit expensive at first :-(

there are only good questions in this forum :-)
anyway the answer to your question is no!
auto-focus is not present on all cam phones.
it is present on all cameras though...
phones without this feature usually have problems taking photos from very close ranges.
                          the come out of focus...

maybe this is a dumb question, but aren't all cameras on cell phones "auto focus"? Is the definition of "auto focus" somehow different for camera phones?

unfortunately i do not think the phone has an auto-rotation sensor like iPhone and W910.
i think you simply have an option to move to wide screen manually like all phones have when plating vedio.
the small change here is probably that you can do it in all modes (as we saw the menues on wide screen in the link i have posted).
this will probably be excuted by pressing a long # or something.

The only thing I don't get is - How does the screen rotate work? Is there a button that rotates a screen when clicked? Is it rotated when a phone changes it's position (like iphone for example)? or does it rotate when you open certain application?

                                      storm20,

how can you compare a terrible phone like 6500 to this phone?

did you read the review GSMArena gave the 6500? it is the worst review i have ever read!
they simply reccomend looking for other alternatives:-)
read at least the review summary...
BTW did you see how they named the review?
                                      Slim inside out :-)

this phone however is a major improvment of the amazing W880 - did you read it's review?
i read all of it and it is one of the best reviews ever. note the w890 is going to substentialy improve it!

you are simply comparing the worst with the best in the slim phones category dude.

Iam writing to u now with my new phone n76
I finally maded it and upgraded
u are talking about 6500 phone which is worse than w890 how is that?
6500 got autofocus, flash, video resolutions(QVGA and VGA),push to talk, very loud speakers with 3D effect) thw new w890 doesn't have any of these features beside that the 6500 has a metal cover and cheaper than the w890!!!!!
