And if the newer ones have been improved then you might not need to replace them at all. Don't spend the money on expensive earphones until you've tried the bundled ones because most people find them more than satisfactory...

HPM 70 has less clear sound especially highs. And hpm 70 has lower volume than hpm 77. I know because I have them both (on my w980). HPM 77 may not be the best out there but its definitely better than the previous HPM 70. Which is great actually, comparing to other brand's.

Hi, it terms of software problem like it suddenly turns off, so far i didn't happen to me (i hope it will never)... a little bit laggy but its tolerable, it's not that slow...oh btw, the keypad is great!
My only concern is that now i can't queue my music directly from FILE MANAGER like i did on W610i, instead if you want to to queue ur music you must do it thru MEDIA. For me it's more convenient to queue my music thru file manager...it's easier...

Stalker: it does have a loose battery cover, but mine doesn't bothered me

Looking through all of these comments, am i the only one who has a loose battery cover? The thing slides back and forth when you hold it. Poor build quality on mine.
No one else seems to have this issue?

tz comment by noname, now i know the situation.. the gimmick HPM77 as strongly advertise in newspaper actually bcum to reason serius music listener redraw from it!(too poor the sound), just buy a HPM70,82 headset replacement sound muchhhh better!
W902 the music device(custom equalizer with clear stereo) itself is really a gud improvement from prevoius SE W series!
u need sony own software to convert the music file from pc to hp coz no ""drag and play""!
am i right!
in this case, after pricing down few months later, i'll go for 2nd hand!

for the person who asked about the sound quality of this PHONE, it's the best compare with other SE phone....BUT the headset that comes with it...sucks!!! it sounds like coming from a can...my suggestion is buy a decent headset...
and hopefully, the headset jack of this phone will stand up to the test of time unlike my prev phone (W610i)

I just bought this phone and so far my comment:
-build quality/functionality are good
-very small call buttons and other buttons near with it
-shake control is useless
-the headset jack is on the side (as usual!!!) - i hate it!
-SE should have put a 3.5mm jack
-the headset that comes with it (HPM-77) is very poor headset...BUT the music player of the phone is great
-no mega bass but the custom bass is much better than the mega bass
-its phone speaker is the best BUT for me it's a little exposed (no cover protection)
-its camera is siperb for a phone...I'll try to print a sample picture next time if its ok
-nice screen...very nice
-a little laggy for me

if SE enable 3.5jack for this model, the phone will stand up b the top!
equalizer device is sound gud but their come together headset not promising!
so u can c the response on this hp just so so...wat a waste!!
sony always do messy things to suicide their profit!

w902 and w980 need special Se software to regenerac songs to HP(liken Itune on ipod), no more drag and play like b4
they shld know nobody like it and they just realease such stupid things in their latest sony MP3/4 player.. now they put in SE HP market
wat a downgrade! and they implement strategy just want to kill themself up in mobile world..

one more things made me think twise is, W980 and W902 no more drag and play songs to hp like b4, u need installed special SE softwre to regenerac songs to the hp with their own method.just like Itune on ipod...
a very very downgraded!
they just too culcurative to give the best! they giv u A aand take away B... SAMSUNG AND LG like them continue with such marketing strategy coz they already overtake SE the idiot!

i am serius mp3 listener and i using k800i for years, intend to upgrade my listening standard with new W-series,at first very impressed with the W902+superior hpm77 gimmick..until..
to those already owned the w902 please give us some comment on the sound and headset: tz
i posted comment days ago, coz i try the hpm-77( i bought from 2nd hand shop) on sony mp3 player and my k800i and the result indeed suck& worst... yes, the sound seems clear and crisp but bass is totally suck! i didnt try the hpm77 with w902 itself so i need yr answer. or mayb sum1 conclude my hpm77 is china fake product??
as i noticed the new changes in the w902 player equalizer setting just looks similer to Sony mp3/mp4 player which supeior & outstanding in sound quality. i indeed hope is the same device then Sony music will stand at the top of the handphone world..
any one been using sony mp4 and w902 can pls convince me abt this??
after listening to the suck hpm77 quality then i abt giving up on so call latest W-series quality handphone, and i'll go for Sony S738 mp4 walkman which THE BEST SOUND QUALITY IN THE WORLD!
