this phone was great nice phone, has a large memory 8gig and good quality sounds. but the phone was pulled out in the market. not available in the market anymore. Anthony from the philppines.

to those of you haveing fm transmtter problem, here is the final solution ok, just forget about the hard/software fix, simply waste of time & effort, change your mind set, i've finally manage to find a solution by getting a car mp3 fm transmitter, put my flash memery on and then, here you go music empire , haha !

Having this phone since last year and i am really happy with this model of SE phones...I think at the moment that models W are one of the best models of Sony Ericsson...I will wait for new phone in W series...Thanks to SE for developing this phone...

The best phone i have ever had compared 2 w890, k800i, k850i, HTC s710, samsung e250, e330, iPhone 3gs (problematic but good) , Nokia 5800 Xpress music (useless phone Useless company) in all i have never had a problem with the phone at all crisp sound quality every thing u need.

Everyone who had the blackscreen issue is a common problem to all the w980 user included me experience blackscreen(cannot start the phone at all) is because the latest firmware(very bad) bug issue. To solve the bug, downgrade to the oldest firmware. Search at GOOGLE website look for the tutorial how to downgrade the firmware. I personal fix this issue 2 months ago, n now everything is alright without any problem any more. So good luck to u all :D

This is such a good phone for music.I just can't find it anymore here in the Philippines, hope someone can help.. Was able to look over internet but they are all used (2nd hand), like to buy it brand new...

I'm the kind of person who cleans my stuff everyday after using. I only had the W980 for a few months, and despite having no need to clean the front on my previous phone, the W980 is a fingerprint magnet and requires it. The 'piano' black finish seems to be gradually coming off, and my W980 more or less looks transparent than opaque black; I can see the circuitry on the touch flip now...
As for battery life, I use a bluetooth headset for about 12 hours a day on the W980 (about 3 hours a day of use, the remaining on standby), and it lasts a good three days. With the included HPM-77, it will last about 5 days; both headsets used with music, calls, texting, and the occasional WAP browsing.

hey i bought this cell phone about a month ago n i gotta say it's a wonderful mobile but it has three major flaws (i think so :$)..
A.u can't hide text preview in this phone which means anyone can read ur texts if they are holding ur cell phone n u receive a text msg... :( (kindly plz leme knw if there is some way to change it??)
B. there is no flash
C. the battery dies sooner than i expected (mine lasts only for a day i-e IF i dun listen to the music

why not even one clamshell model never has autofocus- that is a big mistake - AUTOFOCUS MUST BE IN ALL SONYERICSSON MODELS - then SE will be no.1-- a friendly advice for SE managment - in a body of W710 put camera 3.2mpx-autofocus-xenon flash- led light -wlan - and you get the best phone in the world - and why volume key is no longer shortcut for letters when typing sms

yah, i have this phone too.. bought somewhere in july 09. Now this phone no more d, coz gt problem wit the software... is a good phone bt ... Few weeks ago, my phone went carzy, sudd the screen when blank! everything inside my phone GONE! no memory card... :'(

Guys, this phone wasn't designed for camera purposes. So stop whining for the camera (w/c is not in comfy location) functionality. That's why it's W series. This is a walkman phone and it gives you more than enough for playing mp3 songs. I like the Sense Me functionality of this if you want to play songs that fit your mood of the day. :) As for the camera, well, it still give me the best shot even when I am riding my bike at 10kph. Daytime taken pictures were just great. I noticed though that the more songs you load, the more it slows when opening the media player but it never hangs up. I think this is normal if one brain is overloaded. It's front face is very sensitive on scratches so better place a screenprotector both displays the moment you buy it. By the way, use the packed CD SONY PC suite coz it can browse your memory phone (camera/music folder) via bluetooth. I can't explain why the most updated suite I installed can't see the phone memory. Hope this helps.
