only having this phone for a couple of days, i have found this phone to do exactly what is says on the tin. i can phone anybody very easily, text anybody very easily, look at the cracking design and glad i got one. why does everybody want things done yesterday? chill out and let the phone do what it is intended to do. so what if it is a milisecond slower than another phone. its how you feel with it that matters and i love the look and what the phone is capable of.

Fighters Generation, 06 Aug 2008well this phone finally arrived at my door today and i gott... moreya about disconecting the charger/headphones or whatever.. the right way is to tilt it upwards or downwards. u should read the user manual, its been like this for all ericsson sony and sonyericsson phones lol,
about the slow response, u say its slow, is ther any transitions off/on settings? maybe if u turn them off then u wont have the 1 sec slow response

it has a 3.5mm jack on its headset but not on the phone...

It's true that the phone operation can be slow but it's not that hard to deal with. I was rather disappointed with the speed but around two days later I pretty much got used to it so it's no biggie. Sound quality is fabulous, especially when the lights blink at the bottom, effect is awesome. And I don't think I need to comment on it's look. Practically everyone who got a glimpse of my phone were marvelling at how sexy it was.

I am considerin... morethe phone is light but yeah its nothin special 2 look at... its way blockier than the pics make it out 2 be on the pics on comps or anythin... battery life is quite poor i found out 2day aswell.... also i've has truble with bluetooth aswell but when it does work... my god its quick... also since its touch screen on the flip... it gets finger prints and stuff all over it really fast and u have to whipe it ever now n then which is quite anoyying

the phone is slow. i don't have any other phone to compare it to. all the phones i have use this one has got to be the slowest. camera picture is not just below decent. i had 2 mp that takes better and clearer pictures than this. it is very light. yes it does look good and feels good. i'll catch myself staring at the nice front chrome finish. the flip has a spring that does just fine. the touch screen works great very responsive. the video recording is just below decent. again i'v recorded better with 2 mp sony before. OVERALL THIS PHONE HAS LOOKS AND THE WALKMAN.

Will someone who uses the FM Transmitter often, please let me know if the phone will sometimes hang when playing songs through the FM Transmitter ?
Because I owned Nokia N78 and when I play tracks through its FM Transmitter, the N78 will hangs sometimes. I will need to remove the battery and restarts the phone to get it to work again.
If SE W980 does not have this annoying problem, I will replace N78 with W980.

well this phone finally arrived at my door today and i gotta say... bad things: slow constant speed (takes about a second to do what u tell it 2,) camera isnt all that great, expected better and it takes like 3seconds to capture an image, the charger and the headphones and the usb cable all go in the same place which isnt bad but what is, is how it gets removed from ur phone... u gotta sorta bend it 1 way or the other which is really weird, the radio thing where u dont have to have ur headphones in is half true, it has to have the 1st part of the headphones in and that acts as the antenna.
good points: really loud and clear phone. the screen is real high def stuff... really clear, touch sensitive buttons actually work and so does the whole shake 2 skip track thing altho its kinda pointless cuz the skip buttons right net 2 the play button. the light for when u play music at the bottom of the fone is pointless but its nice 2 see lights flash now n agen. battery life is ok, dowload things from ur pc or mac takes a while... took like 15mins to download 214 tracks... not really sure if thats slow for phones these days. the inside buttons are non noisey and its pretty compact so its pretty good overall, has 8GB internal memory, takes onoly 2.5 hours to charge fully, quite easy and straight forward to use
hope this helps... overall i think its dissapointing but i think some of it is down to the fact im not used to the phone... its growing on me as the day goes on but im still pretty bummed about how it really looks... not like any pics on the net... totally diffrent in person

I was eagerly waiting for months for this phone to come out - replacing my W850.
Sadly, after playing around with it for the past week, I am pretty disappointed!
Yes, as other reviewers have confirmed - the phone operating system is SLOW!
No, you Cannot listen to FM radio W/O the headphones. This sucks since I have read previous reports that the headphones are NOT necessary to listen to the FM radio.
On top of that = when I go to the Sony Ericsson website, most of the weblinks for Support are Unavailable!
I like my W850 much better when it comes down to functionality. AND i paid $500 usd just to be one of the first in my city (Los Angeles) to get this phone.
Sony Ericsson, as a loyal customer to your cell phones, i am pretty disappointed in your so called 'flagship' cell phone!
