Anonymous, 22 Jul 2009I like the phone a lot, but the screen light is fade out an... moreits the light sensor top left adjusting backlight to conserve battery,,it dims in the dark so as not to strain your eyes and brightens up screen in daylight,but if your in dark but the sensor gets bright light on it from being near window it gets brighter..

Anyone used the "Walk Mate" feature?
Is it useful??
Do not have it on my model!
Only thing similar is "Tracker" under:
Menu - Location services - Tracker
It's GPS based and tracks where you go.
Is this similar to "Walk Mate"?
Can it be downloaded anywhere??

For the high-end Walkman phone and the high price, the W995 should have included a "better" camera that rivals that of the Cybershot phones or Cameras.
It's not good for night or long-distance shots but it's good day/short-distance shots.
But it's a given that the phone excels in the media player since it is a Walkman phone.
This is "supposedly" the "last" Walkman phone as SE is reportedly stating in various news reports that it may merge certain phone lines. If so, SE screwed up in ending the Walkman line with a so-so camera!

Bought the Asian version when w995 first came out in Asia and it's there under:
Menu - Messaging - IM
But it could be a regional feature so that would explain it since different settings/features are phone dependent on phone market region.
For example... iBBC player is meant for UK market!

You can set brightness level in Settings.
Fade out is somewhat related to Brightness setting and used to conserve battery life and appears to be a fixed setting.

I got my W995 today and love it. Am just confused over 1 issue, and that is where is the text delivery notification option that comes with previous models? I found this invaluable and will sorely miss it if it is not available.

i cant believe sony ericsson are advertising this as a movie phone!
the omnia HD can play incredibly high bitrates and has a better screen, as does the HTC touch HD, the iphone, most modern day LGs
so why would anyone pick this?!?

Why is BBCi-player in music section?
Netfront browser is slow you need another i.e. bolt browser,,mini opera..
I hate light sensor i can disable it in inn0v8 wish i could in w995...
Would be nice in homescreen clock could be nice anologue type like android..

I my messaging folder i have,,write new,,inbox,,messages,,email,,IM,,and call voicemail so is that what you meant in earlier post about IM being built???
Still all these apps ive downloaded to try yet plus the other built in games,,these are my apps that ive got from the built in browser and *getjar* app or already in fone,,

Today have played 2hrs of mp3 and watched Death Hospital from the free films section(1hr 25 mins) and downloaded two other films to watch tonite maybe..Also been watching live BBC1 for 20 minutes over wi-fi and bluetoothed over 90 MB of tunes in mp3 format,,Have had about 17 mins of calls and 10 texts sent/recieved and 2 MMS recieved..Done some internet browsing for 30 minutes over hsdpa ..Now on 38% battery..Also screen on 90 percent brightness.Battery very,very good and really enjoying fone but a few things i will put in next opinion..
