At last I got it. But there were two problems.
First, when I restart the device all the media disappear from the desktop. I've fixed this by deleting the file (nomedia).
Second, many applications are being installed in the phone's memory despite me choosing not to. This one I have not figured out yet.
Anybody have an idea?

I got this wonderful piece of technology 2 months ago.
Runs very smooth and responsive, never crashed! Good sound quality with headphones and loudspeaker compare to other smartphones! Loudspeaker not the loudest but for a good reason, you will never blow it on full volume!
Amazing sleek design, fits perfectly in your palm. Amazing camera despite it is a phone! HDMI is outstanding, Great games and apps, On the market Sony Ericsson have a section suggesting apps which are good and/or only available on Sony Ericssons. Good texting/typing and good quality of calling, some extra features which are good such as in texting to say it has been delivered.
AND GUYS, about your complains regards BATTERY, Yes, it will last around for 8 hours for the first time, with every charge it will increase, it takes around 4-5 charges for a new battery! Lithium battery needs its first charges to get done more often, and to keep you battery last longer, never let it go flat!
Now with moderate playing and browsing with my Arc I get 2 & 1/2 days!!!

And yes, I have done and seen many real life comparasions. So, I know all the reviews are true about the Super Amoled and Super Amoled Plus superiority.
But you SE fanboys can't accept the truth....very sad...

AnonD-12606, 03 Jul 2011Performance is only average when compared to the latest sma... morehey frnd,it is easy to bash a cellphone.but arc really means quality.yes it has no 20 mpx camera,no dual or triple core processor,no 32 gb memmory card and 32 gb internal memmory,it has only a 4.2" screen,not 10".it is foolishnes to include all the specs in a device,if they add that much specs,the device wil be a failure,like today's dualcores.arc doesnt mean to add lot of features,but it does the job perfectly.thats y people love sonyericsson,those people need quality rather than quantity of specs.

They will do what they want and the phone end up in the pocket or palm and away from the viewing.

No hot swap memory card, No hot swap sim card= it's useful to always swap the memory card and sim card... hehehe
No USB on the go= this is a big issue now right...
No free GPS maps= What???????
No Bluetooth 3 = who cares....
No FM transmitter = what do u mean, there's an RDS FM radio...
No music equalizer= download one from the market...
No USB 2.1 = not a big diff between 2.0 and 2.1... check
Very small internal memory= all new apps can be moved to SD...
Limited 3G frequencies = check again...
No wide angle camera lens = get a canon D550...
No large camera sensor = get a professional sony camera... and a zoom lens too
No gorilla glass screen = ??????
Made in China, Designed in China and then a High Premium price= as well as iphone and every good phone nowadays....
as for the screen well it seems your so stuck in reviews that you don't know what is real... and of course billy boy super amoled is better but it dosen't matter coz who want to look into a mobile screen in low angle in real life...
man please to every sammy fanboy get a life, go to your forum and fix your SGS2 issues, don't brag about a super phone that is significantly no better than another one... Arc is better in performance (till date no need to a dual core), per price, per quality, per use, per look than any other phone...

There is no comparison between arc & s2, super amoled plus gives you an artificial colour & arc's bravia mobile engine gives you life like picture quality dont compare them......

how come my xperia arc only has a total of 350mb worth of ram? anybody encountered this? it says here ram should be 512 =/

This is just another pretty looking phone from SE. Its aimed at younger people.
Just a bigger version of the X10 with HDMI. So, its already a failure. Sorry SE, you have failed again.
Still using an outdated LCD screen.

Performance is only average when compared to the latest smart phones. Phones had 1gig cpu in 2009.
Battery life is still bad like the X10 or all Android phones.
Only has an old technolgy LCD screen. Just look at the comparison by gsmarena. The Super Amoled Plus on the Galaxy 2 totally destroys the pathetic old LCD screen.
No front/secondary camera.
No hot swap memory card, No hot swap sim card.
No USB on the go.
No free GPS maps.
No Bluetooth 3.
No FM transmitter.
No music equalizer.
No UBB 2.1
Very small internal memory.
Limited 3G frequencies
No wide angle camera lens
No large camera sensor.
No gorilla glass screen
Made in China, Designed in China and then a High Premium price.

what you read does not necessarily applies with actual user experience. SGS & SGS2 battery drains faster than ARC's. it may be true that SA & SA+ consumes less power but what i'm trying to say is, upon using this screen technology to smartphones, SE ARC's implementation of LCD technology ourperforms SGS/SGS2's SA/SA+ implementation when it comes to battery life.
this is something you won't understand with reading alone even if it's written all over the pages of every pages of every website in the internet.
