Hey, let me recommend you on a good phone.

    Xperia Mini Pro

You get a 600mhz Adreno 200 GPU, thats pumping 1.5 times faster than the N8.

    and you get widgets........ haha
    alright, I'll stop the sarcasm.

But seriously, what phone did you have before the N8. Why you so directly jumping on SE? Have you ever used a Galaxy S before?
From experience, I sold my I9000 in 3 weeks due to lags, brightness adjusting by itself problem, hang up lag, blank screen etc.... and problems with the LG KU500 before that with battery frying problems.... so from experience, their quality cannot be matched.

[deleted post]oh man, I can't stop laughing. I got to apologize for laughing.... My bad man. I'm an Arc owner for about a week now since the 27th. Its not bad and actually pretty smooth. A lot smoother than the Hummingbird engine in the I9000 and the Nexus S.

[deleted post]Not to say that you're wrong, but have you ever been to Japan? If not, I would suggest buying an airplane ticket and actually flying over there to check out the technology that Japan's using despite the recent factors with the tsunami disaster etc. Have you also ever heard of quality assurance? What do you know about SE checking out their product qualities before shipping them out from the Beijing plant? In other words, what kind of cellphone price does not drop after half a year or so other than that Samsung I9000? Do you even know why the price remained high even up to today?
I agree that having that hummingbird engine did indeed boost Samsung's reputation up, but how often do you check and compare cellphone forums? In comparison with the problems with the I9000 vs X10 previously and even up to today. Not to mention the quality on korean products ex: LG/Samsung. Go scan some QR codes.
And to talk about financial problems, have you ever heard of HTC? Do you know how much Wang Shue Hong invested and started HTC in Taiwan? I highly doubt that the investment exceeds Sony and even Sony Ericsson combined. And do not go and accuse others of actually not having an ARC when you probably do not even have one yourself?

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc - The Ultimate Multimedia Device.

1// First thing to mention, is the fantastic design, it's simply the most eye catching design we've ever seen from Sony Ericsson, the Arc shape makes it absolutely comfortable to hold in both landscape and portrait modes, and with extraordinary light weight at 117g and the premium build quality, we just can't expect a better body for a device with 4.2 inch screen!

2// On the body you can see the power button and micro HDMI out port at the top, first mic and the lanyard loop at the bottom, standard audio jack at the left, notification LED light (unique feature), micro USB port, volume rockers and the dedicated camera key (rare feature between Android based handsets) at the right, 8mp camera lens, LED flash, second mic (for noise cancelation and stereo recording) and the loud speaker at the rear, and at the front you notice the ear piece, proximity sensor and three hardware key: menu, home and back buttons. And of course, I didn't mention the screen because you can barely see the edge between the screen and the black border surrounding it when the screen is off! And this beauty might be available in three colors!! Surprised, huh?! There are two official colors, Misty silver and Midnight blue, but a pink version has appeared on web too.

3// In term of hardware, Arc has everything to run the Android 2.3 gingerbread fast and smooth, 1GHz Scorpion processor, Adreno 205 GPU, Qualcomm MSM8255, 512MB of RAM and 320MB of internal storage. And no need to be worry about the internal storage since you can install everything on your memory card with gingerbread.

4// This device has the most customized and customizable UI. Plus with Timescape and Mediapane. The Xperia UI is so beautiful and gives you full control to change things as you see fit. For example you can sort your main menu desirably and you can make folders easily by dropping an icon on the other one. And you can’t miss the cool overview mode that shows all your widgets in one screen, all you have to do is pinch and you can see all your widget large enough instead of seeing all home screens with tiny widgets.

Now let’s get to business and see why they call it "The Ultimate Multimedia Device"

The Camera, Screen (image output) and loud speaker (audio output) are the most involved parts regarding to multimedia matters, so let’s take a look at them:

5// Camera: Arc has an 8mp auto focus camera which features Touch focus, image stabilization, geo-tagging, face and smile detection, with LED flash and capable of recording videos at 720P HD 30fps, But that doesn't end here, Because you have the award winning Exmore R mobile sensor which has twice sensitivity compared to normal sensors and it means that you'll get much better images in low light conditions! You think that’s all?! No, you're wrong! Because above all other camera phones, we get an extraordinary feature for video recording and it's the "Continuous auto focus feature", that means you don't need to be worry about the lens distance from anything while you're taking videos! Isn’t it cool? Yeah I know :-P

6// Screen: This device has an LED-backlit LCD, 4.2 inch at 480×854 capacitive multitouch screen, which is scratch-resistant too, capable of showing 16m colors and recognizing up to 32 points at once, now you might ask what's the point of recognizing 32 points at once?! I’d say that this just shows how powerful and responsive the screen is really! And let me tell you that this isn't JUST another LCD! They have put the amazing "Mobile Bravia Engine" on this device. And it means that you have brighter, sharper and super natural colored images! And again, that's not all! They’ve done something else with screen so it has much less reflection, so thumbs up for the brilliant sunlight visibility of the screen!

7// HDMI output: well, beside the very nice screen you get full HDMI out too! so you can see not only your gallery on your HD TV, but in fact you'll be able to see the entire UI on it, so just plug it to your HD TV and start playing angry bird! Everyone will be surprised :-)

8// Audio output: Thanks god! unlike their other recent phones, this one has an excellent loud speaker, very loud and high quality...plus the 3.5mm head phone jack that it'll give you great audio quality for sure, since you have nice equalizers too. So don't worry about the sound at all.

In the end, believe me or not, this is an absolutely unique smart phone. Some people call it The Android Smartphone with luxurious advantages! Suit yourself and call it whatever you like but … wait! No need to look for power button, Press the home key...swipe to unlock... now enjoy this beauty! … Get the hold of yourself! It’s just a phone ;-)

It's not something strange that Sony products gets the best ranking! In fact, this is the place that fits them ;)

Not only that the top 3 phones in the ranking are s/e phones but also s/e is the #1 brand in Gsmarena's ranking, check it for your self:

                            http://www.gsmarena.com/stats.php3

That's the reason when you aim for the best and top, Sony is always one of the choices, and it's a classy choice not a cheap wannabe one :D

                            Cheers!

                              Hi there,

You need to charge the battery 8 hours for the 4-5 days, this is very important in order to get the best out of your battery.

Attention !! Do not drain the battery until it's dead, this habit destroys your battery. Just wait until the indicator is read and than charge.

Also, in the first few days don't go high usage on the phone, just use it for basic stuff. If you follow these rules you will be very pleased with the battery's life in the future.

In the end I congratulate for buying this true beast from S/E ;)

                              Sony= make.believe

Got My Arc last 2 days. Been playing around with the UI and interface. It is the exact the same as the retail version you see on the youtube.

                                    Interface:
Smooth and fast with no lag at all during switching of home screen or switching to menu screen. Although it does lag a bit during the initial setup when you 1st got the phone out of the box. Once the setup is completed, everything is normal.

                                    Sound:
Ringing and call-in volume is good. Not soft at all, i can listen to the whoever call me clearly. Default ringtones are quite loud, so you dont have to put it at the highest level at the Ringing volume setting.

                                    Battery:
Last me more than a day so far @standby & a bit of gaming and calls. I didnt do the tradition 8hrs full charge >.< Hope nothing happen to the battery later on. Pls advise on this - should i totally drain the battery 1st and give it a good 8hrs charge?

I m not a sony ericcson fan and i sort of hate them for making some crap/useless phone in the past(i bought some and it keep giving me bad experiences, not sure if it got something to do with my bad luck).

But this time, i m glad they make a good phone like Xperia Arc~ Hope they keep it this up especially the software support side.

Happily upgraded from Nokia5800 to Xperia Arc :)

abhi, 31 Mar 2011Yup... expecting a dual core. Now they r the only one left ... moreRIM is another company without duel core, but tbh they are always late with the techs. Sony ericsson with duel core this year? The chance is slim, with xperia play delayed, they are stepping back after all the good new we heard in the past few days. And the earthquake too. I predict q1 next year. Just want to ask does anyone know the link to the duel core this year web page?
