milton, 20 Dec 2011ram problem in se arc s.its true?how much ram free for this... moreIt has about 300-something RAM free when not using widgets etc. it has a bit low screen resolution (for it's size) and that also helps it being able to run some apps, even though the GPU is a bit weak compared to others in it's class. So at the moment this should suffice for even the more demanding apps on the market.
In terms of actual space for apps, it's low. And yes, you can move to SD-card, but still, the space for apps is highly limited. Not all apps can be moved, and some still take much space after being moved.

I love this site and check it daily, so in recognition I am putting my personal review for this phone.

I used to have a Nokia N97, tried to go for iPhone but didnt like how it limits user experience and its closed system approch(example:can't use ur MP3 as ringtones directly without a cheat or crack??),and especially hated the telephony part of the iPhone. Dont get me worng, I have an iPad 2 which I think is best tablet out there, but when it comes to mobility, i didnt like to use iOS.

I bought a desire HD back in January 2011 and kept it for less than 5 days before I was fed up with it for bad battery, not much control on data usage, and it didnt support arabic at the time (it was still froyo) and bad ergonomics, especially for the speaker and the way it wobles when you put on a desk.

Wanted to get an SII but it seemed only good on paper, i never was able to appreciate it once in hand.

Finally i decided to give android another chance through this mobile, I have been using the phone fo almost a month, here's what I found:

Battery life: decent compared to other smart phone. but you might need to be econimic by simple measures to ensure it serves you the whole day, like turning off GPS and turning on and off WiFi and 3G according to need, plus dimming the backlight at night.
Feels good in hand (compare to SII and Desire HD)
        Beautiful
        Screen has lovely colors.
software compared to iphone, iphone is much smoother especially in transition between screens and applications. but I love how gtalk and whatsapp and skype are working on the arc, and how their notifications come seemlesly with the software. Sharing on social media is very simple and facebook integration with sony ericsson is native. iOS only seemlisly integrates with twitter.
Application market is only offering the free software here in UAE, but for paid apps you can easily by them directly form publishers unlike iOS where u are only limited to App Store.
Music handling is great with no need to itune stupidity. i bought an iPod Nano around 1.5 years ago and almost never use it because of hating to use the itunes.
I hate that unlike nokia, iOS and Android dont offer you free navigation with free offline maps for UAE, that said, the wisepilot application coming with the Arc S is nice, though it offers offline maps and navigation for a price, and they are having problems updating UAE map.
sond quality is nice though handsfree speaker is somewhat of low volume.
web browser is amazing and flash is certainly and added bonus.
cant use the native email client with my work email because of limitation on security policy since androids dont support Device ID when communicating with exchange, but i got the touchdown email application which is great.
messaging is great, and text input and editing is great, unlike iOS the way you edit the text you already written is easy.

compared to othe android high end, lack of front facing camera is disappinting, especially if you are a skype and viber user, but price wise its better. other problem is that it doesnt have accessories in the market, and i highly recommend u put a screen protector film as soon as you get your device, even if youhave to make do with one made for SII or iPhone.

as for dual core and only 512 mb memory, until now i see good performance by the phone, so i dont think its that big a deal.

screen size is very good, they say other screens might be better in color, but i have no complaints about this one.
camera is very good and fast, only problem i saw is focusiong while in digital zoom, and wide angle pictures are astonishing.

Prvicey wise, its bad, even worse than iPhone. But thats the price you pay for full integration iwth social media and webemail and positioning apps.

I still think android needs a little more time to fully mature, but its now gingerbread is much better than froyo, and sonyericsson are deep rooted in handset indusrty so they still command respect for their product even with their misses. Sansung seem to focus on getting a thin light device that they forgot user experience and the faact that users hate cheap feeling handsets when they cost a fortune.

The price of the Arc S was a major reason i picked it since i think i will upgrade when a beetter high end androd it here.

        I hope this was helpful.

dr. web, 20 Dec 2011well, i like this mobile phone. just one thing they dont in... more'cause no one really uses the secondary camera. They were just a little bit popular to use about 6-7 years ago when they got mainstream.

May get more popular again due to video chat through skype (if using a good data plan).

The Motorola RAZR XT910 has a front-facing camera which can record in 720p and it's also very slim. Maybe that would be more suitable for your use? Also dual-core and twice the RAM + much better display. A bit higher price, but should be well worth it all things considered.

PGo6, 19 Dec 2011Hi all, is ARC S with 1.4 GHz faster a lot then basic ARC ... moreapart from that just the firmware. Arc S has 2.3.4 and Arc has 2.3.3 out of the box but can be upgraded to 2.3.4. So just the processor is the main difference
