AnonD-37620, 15 Jan 2012Hey guys.. Got a few queries: 1. Is typing on the onscreen... moreThe preloaded apps are installed in the phone memory, but all applications' datas, files and cache are stored in sd card under "Android" folder, hence it's better to copy this folder and its contents to your new sd card. If you want to keep the user guide in the phone, copy this directory: "other/.emanual", the size is more than 500MB - all files of of user manual in various languages. But you may copy only the language versions that you want to keep plus the sub folder "images".

Other directories that should present in memory card are notifications and ringtones to store notification files, "DCIM" folder to store video recordings and photos, and "bluetooth" folder as bluetooth files received destination.

AnonD-37620, 15 Jan 2012Hey guys.. Got a few queries: 1. Is typing on the onscreen... more1. Since the screen is not very big, the qwerty keyboard(especially in portrait view) may be a little hard to use, especially if you are used to with a big phone display. In landscape view it is better, but can't said to be ergonomically the best.
By 'standard' keypad, if you mean the usual phone keypad, it is there in the portrait view. In portrait mode, you can select phonepad or qwerty. It will be switched to qwerty when screen is rotated. And the phonepad is very comfortable to use.
You can also install third party keyboards from the market.
      2. No problem in using 4GB card. And I don't know about the preloaded apps in mem card. My phone came with all apps installed in phone.

          Hi,

I'm using this phone since Jan 1st 2012. Really a great phone. So for I didnt face any issue. Earlier I was planning to buy Samsung Galaxy Fit or Samsung Ace but I got this awesome phone. I thought 3 Inch Screen might be the drawback of this phone but it wont be that much big problem. Display is chance less, you can feel the liveness on the screen. Only things is Camera, Photos in Mobile having awesome clarity but the same photo in Computer looks dull.

Hey guys.. Got a few queries:
              1. Is typing on the onscreen QWERTY keyboard all that difficult as mentioned in some reviews? Can a standard keyboard be installed in the phone?
              2. I've come to know that the Mini comes with a 2gb microSD card, but only 750 mb is available, as approx. 1.1gb is taken up by preloaded apps. Would there be any trouble if I use a 4gb card(I already hv one)? Can the apps on the stock card be installed on the 4gb card?

Johnny, 13 Jan 2012Now that is Sony and not Sonyericson if they do update this... moreHTC just took their phone, printed the beats logo, and added beats headphones in the box, and added a beats equalizer setting. Sony could do the same with the mini (they would use the walkman labelling instead of beats), and lure people to pay more for what is essentially the same product.

And the current screen is better than any amoled I have seen. The colours of the bravia engine are natural, but those in the amoled are unrealistically vivid.

The battery life is pretty good. Couple calls, a few messages, and about 2-3 hours of real racing 2 and it lasted me about a day. Not bad, and not a problem if you live in a place with electricity available.

RySev, 14 Jan 2012Gorilla glass actually does scratch but it helps if you acc... moreThe apps ARE limited by the size of the SD card. Currently, real racing 2 is taking up 1.5 gigs of my SD card, and takes up 600KB on my internal memory. Trust me, your SD card will finish wayy before your phone memory starts running low (Even if you use a 32 gig one).

Although you were right about the dropping the phone bit. Gorilla Glass will come in handy then.

AnonD-8312, 13 Jan 2012I don't get people's facination with gorilla glass. Sure it... moreGorilla glass actually does scratch but it helps if you accidentally drop your phone, no matter how careful you are it does happen.

The biggest selling point of android are apps/games, so it's bothersome that most mid/low end droids have very little phone memory and I'm not the only one complaining about this. The number of apps we download should only be limited by the size of our sdcard not phone memory.

I fell in love with this phone when it was first announced but after reading reports of hardware issues upon release, I was discouraged. When I buy a device, I expect it to work properly out of the box.

Looks like you got a trouble free Xmini, good for you. I'm just not willing to take the risk.

You can make backup of your applications. Install AppSaver, this app will scan all applications you've installed, select app. icons then choose backup option and it will saved the APK files to sd card. Or send them to your other android devices. Or gift some to your friend on his birthday.

PS. it can not make backup of preloaded applications.
