Having used this phone for some days now, I am very impressed by the quality of the music playback. I am using some budget sennhezer earphones which cost me just under a tenner and combined with the equilizer settings, this phone pumps out some very good sound.
Having used and ipod, I would happily replace the ipod for this.

So I don't think iPhone earphones will be able to run them, and most earphones with controls are tailor made for them. I don't think that other phone companies give music controls with their headphones, so that's probably a no-go. You can get a pair of bluetooth stereo headphones, they have controls, and I'm guessing they are pretty cheap nowadays.

The pics appear detailed on the phone, but washed out on my computer. This phone may not be the replacement for your digicam, but it sure works fine for a phone. If you want a single device to offer stellar music quality, proper HD camcorder, amazing display, etc..there isn't one. One cannot replace the functionality of a dedicated device, no matter the cost. This goes for everyone- this phone will not replace your Nikon L## camera, nor will it force you to throw away your iPod, but it will stun you with what it offers, especially if you are upgrading from a lower model.

OK, the phone is pretty unequipped out of the box. I have installed MoboPlayer, and it plays divx, xvid, and 720p mp4 music videos just fine. However, it has problems playing 1080p mp4 files, and it cannot take mkv. That may however just be the problem of the player, and not the phone. Whether or not it can play 2GB movie files, I have no idea (and unfortunately, no way to test it for now as the 2GB MicroSD which came with the phone had only about 690 MB free,!!?!?!?). But it played 720p music videos smoothly-colours are vivid, display is bright, blacks are dark-the bravia engine makes even low res (360p) videos look superb. To get an idea of the colours, go to an electronics store, and check out the 40" Samsung LED TVs. The colour in the phone display is very similar to them, and the sharpness in the screen is nearly unrivaled. About the earphones, the model is MH650. The quality is better than what the competition offers, but is nothing stellar, but that may also be because I'm sorta used to the Sennheiser.

Nands, 10 Sep 2011Ya, now its showing 200 MB free and 110 MB used. but, is it OK?Its enough for a phone I guess. Games probably don't take more than 100MB at a time, especially such a small resolution. If you plan on using the net to download apps, wallpapers, browsing, etc for hours at a stretch, keep the charger handy. I was downloading apps on it and it managed to eat 15% of the battery in just over 60 mins. So if you do that, just charge it like twice a day. The only reason you will notice a bad battery life is because you did not do so much with your previous phone, (well, at least I feel that way).

On the phone display, with its mobile bravia engine, everything is just perfect, as good as it gets.

Really good handset. The battery can last a full day of normal use. 4 hours of continuous web browsing. Only gripe is that, Gameloft HD games are not optimized for HVGA. Apart from that almost all apps from the market works. And lastly, the bundled headphones are very good.
And one small niggle, the menu button on my device is very erratic, triggers on its own. The problem might be unit specific since I haven't seen any such complaints on any of the forums.

Manju, 10 Sep 2011Unable to update the firmware to '4.0.A.2.377'. PC hangs an... moreEven for me it freezed after first try.. then I took a backup of all and formatted the SDcard and re-set to factory settings and then tried applying the update through PC companion and it worked...
And got the new version of android market in the upgrade.. also seems they fixed other issues (as informed by sony website)

Unable to update the firmware to '4.0.A.2.377'. PC hangs and phone will get shut down during update and doesn't turn on until turning on the phone after unplugging from USB. Can't update to this firmware over AIR. Anyone tried ?? I just tried with SE PC companion and left the phone updating for 5+ hours connected to PC but no use. Update failed.
