AnonD-15841, 24 Aug 2011does anyone know the difference between the mini pro SK17a ... moreMore specifically, both SK17a and SK17i are quad-band GSM. The difference is in the 3G data bands. SK17a has 850/1900/2100. SK17i has 900/2100.
The 850/1900 will work on AT&T in the US, but not T-Mobile (the phone will still work on T-Mobile, just not the data). Because both phones have 2100, they will both work in a large number of countries: http://www.freegsmplus.com/gsm-coverage/

I've been keeping an eye over this phone since its release. I really love its specifications. I wud buy it this week and wanted to know if the qwerty keys are of any use while playing games/hd games coz im pissed off of its chirping noise while recording videos. So i might go for the xperia mini rather than the mini pro, coz all mostly all basic specs are same.

Hey guys... a sales guy in Mobile stores told me that even though we can do video chat using skype, we cant do the video call using 3G sim (that is not supported by this phn).. can any one who is using this phone please confirm whether we can do it or not... if video calling is not der i will drop my idea of buying it....

the phone is fabulous. music is great, the camera is also extra ordinary. also we r getting a secondary camera at dis pice-point. over-all 4.8 out of 5

I got my hands on an SK17a. Some initial comments, hopefully I can post more later:
1)For those who are collating anecdotal evidence about noise during video: I tried a few times and it was absolutely silent.
2)For those (like me) who are interested in the camera: it is definitely good, but I'm not blown away by it. I was a little disappointed, honestly, but I'm coming from a Nokia so maybe I'm used to better photos? If the camera is not the main feature for you, I think this is definitely a good camera--I'm just not convinced it's the best 5MP out there.
3)I find the keyboard to be remarkably comfortable.
Pretty much pleased with everything else.
