Do not use PC companion as it seems to have some problem.
tip: when asked to hold the back volume and insert the mini usb, keep the button presssed till the application asks you to release the button.
It works pretty smoothly..

ok, so I rooted my phone just so I could try the "xperia S rom" that has a very good walkman player
was able to install the rom and it has been very nice so far
but I kinda want to install ics on my phone too....does anyone know how I can install official ics on my phone?
can i just find a an official ics rom and install it the way i installed the xperia s rom?
or am I supposed to unroot the phone first?(no idea how to)
any help would be greatly appreciated thanks ^_^
(not really knowledgeable about rooting, I just dared to do it followed an instruction how to....but I really dont know much)

my opinion about ICS...i miss the lock screen animation where the display turns off like a television. and also, the LED notification does not work when the display is turned off and the phone put to sleep. image quality just became better (theoretically since images produced now range up to 1.8MB in file size. before it barely reaches 1.1MB) downside i noticed is, the recording HD video frame rate drops to 27fps when image stabilizer is turned on. scrolling is still as smooth as ever.

yayuz, 26 Jun 2012Can Anyone help me with reliable stepz in which I can upgra... more1. download Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS) and install it on your desktop (the software might prompt you to update to the latest version, do it.) Leave SEUS open and running.
2. plug the USB cable to your PC, but leave the other end free from your phone (do not plug the USB cable to your phone yet)
3. turn off your phone and WAIT for at least 30 seconds before doing step 4.
4. press and hold VOLUME DOWN button WHILE plugging the USB cable to your phone. release the button and wait for SEUS to detect the phone. it will automatically check for available update.
5. just proceed with the steps. be sure to back up your contacts and other data TO your SDCard. download and update time takes no more than 40minutes, but if it takes longer, just leave it that way until it finishes. you don't want bricking your device.

It has been a tough week between HTC ChaCha and Samsung B5510 Galaxy Pro and SonyEricsson Xperia Mini Pro.
So I decided to go with Xperia Mini Pro since HTC has a good build quality aluminum but 160MB memory is a hell and HTC is planning to ditch devices with physical keyboard. Chacha has a good front camera but it can't make Skype video calls. Samsung is good too but not for that price.
Black version of Xperia Mini Pro has a rubber back which stays where you put it even when vibration is on. It has a 300+ MB memory to install apps, also most apps can then be transferred to SD card.
There are currently 146 apps installed right now (including the ones that come with the phone). To install that many apps, I saw "Insufficient Memory" notification 3 times and moved all the apps that permit to SD card, problem solved. Now there is 120 MB free for many other apps.
All the apps were compatible with ICS and all of them run flawless on this screen size. With ICS upgrade, I saw great improvements like camera swipe from lock screen. See for yourself:
http://www.android.com/about/ice-cream-sandwich/
Xperia Mini Pro battery "STANDBY" with Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich ICS):
Phone locked, no apps on the background, sound off, wifi off, GPS off, bluetooth off, data off, no communication traffic whatsoever -> %90 percent left while 18 hours passed, which means 180 hours of pure standby, which is good if you plan to travel, by sea or by foot.
Battery under heavy "communication" usage would last at least 24 hours. When pushed into the game-camera-GPS triangle, it would go down from 24 hours like any other Android device on the market, I haven't tested it yet.
Great device for great price.
