yes new generation phones need quad core processor to handle a small pc to run apps and games smoothly...i think quad core isn't enough for heavy os like android in phones.... and yes there's a huge difference between desktop, laptop quad core and mobile's quad core.... this isn't for our understanding... this is for developers who made the phones....symbian, windows or ios can handle their task easily with a 800 mhz processor.. even iPhone 4s has 800 mhz processor... but it never lags in is life time... on the other hand phones like android its too heavy os that's y it needs multiple cores...
