DON'T go for a class 6 and above level micro sd cards.......
They are worth twice and they are practically useless for this cell. The class of a card means the minimum writing speed of them in MB. A class 10 card will mean that it will give a minimum of 10MBps speed. Which although looks good on paper, has no practicality for a cell phone.
Lemme explain...... Why make a road 4 lane if only a couple of cars are gonna run on it? This mobile has nothing in it that needs a writing speed of even 6MBps. Even a Samsung Galaxy S II capturing a 1080p video won't need that bandwidth. A 1080p video has a bitrate of 10mbps which equals to 10/8 = 1.25MBps.....which is easily handled even by a Class 2 micro sd card. And we only have 720p i.e. 6mbps speed i.e. 6/8 = .75MBps......
So a Class 2 card is enough for you.....
But what about when one want to transfer files from pc? Then the greatest value would be the most beneficial.....right? Ya. So one should go for a Class 10 card......shouldn't he?.....Not really. There is a catch......
Any card above class 6 has an inbuilt system that forcefully increases the speed of a card by initialization. This means that if you want to transfer 100 files to the class 6 or above cards, the card will first scan those files and then determine the best possible ways to transfer them, so that the transfer rate is optimum. This initialization itself makes a device like a smartphone weak. Which corresponds to slowness or instability of the device.
So, stay away from class 6 n above cards and be happy with a class 4 card. This gives the best of both worlds. I myself have a 32Gb Class 4 MicroSDHC card of Transcend bought from Flipkart for 1990Rs. Same class SanDisk is 2100Rs. SanDisk has better customer support n experience as they were the first to manufacture a MicroSD card in this world.
Phew!!!! Now that's a mouthful.....
