Is there anything else like it (that is, an android phone with a gamepad)? For something so special and unique among phones, it's such a shame that this seems like the only one of its kind...

DO NOT GET THIS PHONE! My brother and I both got it and they both broke within a month or two. His screen turned grey and just stopped working. My SD card reader and battery holder came loose, so neither stay in. It has NO space on it. I have a 16 Gb sd card and only a few apps and pictures, still it tells me there is no space. I am not happy with this phone. The games are fine though..

mine gets extremely hot when charging and also hot when not chargeing as long as there is a fully charged battery inside, making it unsable. can anyone tell me what the problem is.

Yeah! Sony did us MAKE.BELIEVE that the xperia play will have ICS update, man, lets hope that they can release the official ICS for the ill fated xperia play and since there are many stable roms, i know they can do it!!!

Your prblm were same with XPPLAY , , Juz go to Setting>Storage>Unmount your sd card , , And let u'r sd card unmount till 2-3 min , , Go to gallery then all the pic will be there , , Hope this will work on your phone , , ~~

I put the... moreif you got the phone through verizon, then you have the cdma version which does not have gsm radios onboard so if the network you are switching to doesn't use cdma then you won't get reception so it's best to ask them or look on the internet. http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_xperia_play_cdma-3780.php this is the phone you have

yuri, 05 May 2013i hava a problem. i bought this xplay from used phone shop ... moreinstall pc companion, then install flashtool, install flashtool drivers. find a firmware then install it through flashtool. go to xda-developers.com and go to xperia play section and you can find everything there

My carrier is verizon. I am switching to net10. I put the net10 sim card into the phone. It has a sim card slot. Can I assume that this is a GSM phone. Will the net10 sim card work?

i hava a problem. i bought this xplay from used phone shop that just dissapered all of a sudden and now i thought i was getting lucky that this xplay was on android 4.0 ICS when all a long it was just ROM version. now i cant do anything much with it. what can i do to get rin of ROM and back to gingerbread so i can use it properly?? pls help

since one and half year i got it, i'm not living a day without using web or apk.
as sony device, some unuseful apps no removable (but removable with rooting)
but still a rom bug (i don't visited sony to know if they fix the problem) which always been present: when wifi is activated of when 3g loses network, some apps are turning "on" (facebook, latitude, maps and others...) and screen and haptic keyboard going uncontrolable, phone opening apps (like web browser or camera...) tip: lock screen off and press one to turn on, and kill many tasks unuseful (at this moment) as possible but keep turned on antiviruses, protect media scanner (don't worry, vitalic apps will automatically re-turn instantanly)
xperia pro (that i've got too, hasn't it bug)
solid device, it fallen many times these last monthes and no problem (exepted previous which explained)
and with android os i got the best part of hi-tech feature: media player, web browsing, videogaming with playstation app and android games apps, and retrogaming using emulators and swiping analog pad.
my biggest regret: playstation mobile games purposed is too pooverly! (while emulation is increasing performance and is here to be proud of acquisition)

Still a great phone. Shame they never made a successor.
