I really like this phone. Not a brilliant screen, but nice resolution.
The phone isn't too expensive and it delivers what it promises: very fun to play with, GPS and many "adult" features, sucha as Office, imaging tools and others.
With a 32GB card, you'll store everything you need to work and play with.
Too bad there isn't video calling, albeit there is a front camera.

Sony's Xperia Play, as many Android phones, doesn't support native 3G video calls.

Unfortunately, you'll have to sign up a data plan (pay the extra cost and be limited to the inclusive data) and install third-party programmes to be able to enjoy video calls, now.

We've actually gone backwards in time as far as video calling availabilty is concerned.

Gmail and Skype depend on having a data plan.
In order to use Skype, you need a little Skype Credit or an appropriate subscription.

None of the above are needed on regular 3G Operator video calls:
You just dial a number and select whether you want a voice-only or a video call.
In Europe, people pay operators two kinds of plans:
                                    > a "obligatory" voice/video call plan (which obviously includes) SMS.
                                    > An extra Data Plan, which they pay separately, and includes traffic limitation and allows them to use Skype, browse the Internet, watch Youtube, etc.

That means that most people use video calls without any extra program, app... or payment:
They just dial and select video-call.
You used to have that on older Sony models.
Nowadays, Android has assumed that everyone has a data plan and tries to sell their google-related progs, so it withdraws that possibility from "google-dependent" phones.
The result is that brands that include video call capability on their phones tend to be more successful.
Just take a look at Samsung's sales reports...

You can't just dial a number and select video calling like in the old(er) models.
What you always have is video call over Data connections, such as Gmail or Skype, but that data plans are expensive in Europe as you have to pay extra for Data (and, even then, with strict traffic limits).

Android doesn't originally include that feature.
Samsung and HTC, to name but two, do provide that - in some of their phones -as part of their proprietary firmware/software capabilities.

I hope Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)will include 3G video calling (although, unfortunately, I doubt it).
