I would like to ask a couple of questions:
> Will pre-installed games still be "there" (in our phone), after installing a new OS, namely, ICS (Android 4.0)?
Won't that wipe out all the phone's content?
> Does this phone now allow voice call over 3g?
Latest firmware descriptions seem to point in that direction, but I would like to hear it from an unbiased user with hands-on experience.

i have this smartphone! i just bought the orange version(newest) and this is really great phone! believe me!, yet see the specs is not enough to see its power. once you handed and play games with it its a true nice portable gaming device. i love the graphics render. its a plus being a phone that almost all the good games are optimize to Xperia Play so it gives the full experience with its hard and software. don't make any comment if you have'nt tried playing with this all the reviewers got impress with this only game optimize android phone. i love the stereo sound and the beautiful screen. 4/5 recommended!

nick, 22 Dec 2011gaming phone with adreno 205 GPU = failHey, you think adreno 205 isnt good? Its all about optimalization! It doesnt matter about HW, just look at consoles, it has old Cpu, Ram and Gpu and look at games!
So if games will be optimalized for one device(xperia play) it will be fantastic for gameplay and graphics.

Haha..i really enjoy this phone, now now...i have 23 HD games only from Gameloft, EA mobile and Glu. with 32gb memory card ne....mostly are free and foll game promo.
this the best gaming phone i had..no lag problem..

AnonD-33876, 22 Dec 2011can u play psp games w/ this unit?.,U can play all android market games and there is a service called ' PlayStation pocket,' which allpes you to buy and play specific ps1 classics, but that service isnt available in every country. Crash bandicoot is preinstalled

one more disadvantage i had heard about this phone is that, its brightness is little dim even if it is set to the maximum. i had read this in many reviews on diff. sites.
and the most annoying thing actually is that , yesterday i went to buy this xperia play. But "mobile stores" told me that it has been discontinued by sony since the last month.
then i went to a sony showroom. First he said its available. I told him " I ll buy it". after a few min. of searching here and there, he says" its not there available right now, but i ll MAKE IT AVAILABLE in few days". WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SO m confused whether to buy or not to buy....TOTALLY CONFUSED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLZ GIVE ME some ADVICE guys. should i go for it or not?

It's a better attempt at a gaming device/phone than the Nokia Ngage, but it's plagued by a low internal memory, low ram, the lack of an internal SD card, and the analog pad is hard to use. my suggestions for improvement for a new generation is to raise the RAM to around 1 Gig, double the internal memory,plus add an internal SD card of 8 gigs, plus a feature that allows multiplayer for the playstation games. (would an NFC work?) I know this would drive up the price, but in my mind you get what you pay for.
