I bought this phone on Singapore's launch day (22/Apr'11). Fanfare was pretty low, queues were quite empty, I guess the over-expectation of sales volume by the dealer.
The magic begins as soon as I power up the phone and I was greeted with large, colourful, sharp looking display. Setup and configuration are so easy and user-friendly. Although it is launched as exclusive to Singtel (for now, Starhub on pre-orders now), it really does not matter which operator you use so long as you have a data bundle subscribed together with your mobile plan, otherwise be prepared to incur heavy data usage chargers.
There are 6 free pre-loaded games that comes with the phone now: Madden NFL11, Crash Bandicoot, The Sims3, Bruce Lee, Star Battalion, Fifa 10(my favourite so far). The Singtel set comes with their pre-loaded apps, though some are free for use with other SIM cards as well (I'm with M1). Currently, the games from the official PlayStation store a.k.a. "PlayStation Pocket" are quite limited as they are still working on more titles. But there are tons of games available via Gameloft (3rd party games publisher), as well as the growing Android market.
My 2-cents worth of advice as soon as you bought the phone will be: 1) Check and ensure all items and accessories are intact; 2) Try out the phone's basic functions such as calling, browsing the menus, randomly open some applications/settings; 3) Check screen damage by taking photo on a black surface; 4) TRY OUT ALL THE FREE GAMES! (**this is most crucial, as I heard feedback that the pre-loaded games data might be corrupted and/or memory card faulty -> I experienced that myself, trust me.)
Anyway, I am totally enjoying this phone now. It is a great escape from the boring Nokia 'smartphones / touchscreens', and I am pawning away my N8 soon. I think right now, any latest touchscreen smartphones released by other reputable manufacturers beats Nokia's symbian ones anytime, though I still love their S60 keypad phone with the best newest model - Nokia C5.
Back to Xperia Play, it is definitely 1 unique and special phone to grab hold of in the mobile market today. Comparing to the aged Nokia N-gage (I still keep mine 7years on), this is the benchmark for a true mobile gaming device. With good software support and strong Android apps store, I am sure this phone will last for years to come. Hopefully, the SE team behind this product will continue to innovate and re-invent this line of product and stay constantly updated to the changes in the mobile phone world.

doesn't have enough enough internal space so if you install game to SD card its slower. compared it to my WP7 HTC HD7, and this phone lost in everything, gonna keep it in my drawer until they come out with a update which makes it at least comparable to WP7 and iPhone.

Secondary video call camera does'nt work over 3G for video calls in this phone and androids. It is used for internet based video calling like yahoo. Further the other party must have the same kind of net video call facility.

[deleted post]Dude... open up ur eyes.
I'm SE fan but as long as it results in Sony making phones(on their own) without ericsson i'm happy with SE selling their business.
