Came in too late. This would have been a great phone if it was released 8 months ago.

    Hi there, does anybody know when is Carphonewarehouse going to get/offer this phone ??? I have preordered this phone on Carphonewarehouse website 3 months ago and since then all the information disappeared. I've asked carphonewarehouse staff in Golders Green branch and they didnt even know that this phone exist. I'd like to take this phone as an upgrade but it looks like they are not going to get that phone.

      Sony, one of the two shareholders in the S-LCD Corporation, is reportedly considering selling its shares in the joint venture. The company TV division is having a hard time on the market recently and continues to lose money, which has made the Japanese giant consider leaving the S-LCD Corporation.

          Anonymous, 09 Nov 2011I have to disagree on the screen - the Xperia Pro's screen ... morefantastic screen? what fone did you compare it with??? I compared to LG Optimus 2x and HTC Desire Z, Xperia Pro is inferior to both on viewing angles, and very inferior to the HTC also on color reproduction and contrast, with the 2x on 2nd place and teh Xperia Pro last.

          I too thought the xperia screen looked nice at first, i did notice the bad viewing angle, and then i fired up som LMFAO HD videos on youtube and i tought it looked great, but then i put it side by side the HTC with its SLCD.... SLCD is better than S-AMOLED+, its the best, and i thought SLCD was a Sony technology but obviously not since Sony dont use these breathtaking displays themselves.

                            Ok so i got my Xperia Pro now! And i had a HTC Desire Z for almost a year now, so i can compare these two, side by side.

                            Now the display, xperia pro is disappointing, viewing angle is bad, and when watching video it looks dull and boring next to the excellent SLCD of my HTC.

                            Xperia Pro is better than many others, and the Bravia engine does omething with youtube videos. But comparing a 720p MP4 musicvideo, HTC is superior. In addition we know HTC has better hardware decoding support for various videos, while Sony only supports MP4 HW decoding.

                            Sorry to say, a clear win for HTC Desire Z on video and image quality, and the difference is big. Xperia Pro really need SLCD display to compete, both in image quality and viewing angles, the Desire Z is very clearly superior.

                            Xperia Pro gets a plus for having a 16:9 display, widescreen videos fit the screen better, while on the HTC there will be narrow black bars on tp and bottom.

                            Camera and speaker/audio quality are among the things where Xperia Pro beats the HTC, with a big margin, the HTC has a very bad speaker. Keyboard is also better on the xperia.

                            I dont know then. Clearly Xperias display is good enough to watch videos on, Bravia really is more than a name, and you can do so with ok sound in the speaker. On the HTC you get better image but sound is not good on the loudspeaker, so on both these handsets you get a mixed experience.

                            Anyway the HTC has lotsa software errors and i cant say its stable, so i will use the xperia pro for now and see if i encounter any problems. I know all android fones have more than enough software bugs but I doubt it can be as bad as the HTC, so all in all i think the Xperia Pro will be a better companion for me: less UI lag, better speaker, less software bugs, and everything else is "good enough". Thats just initial thoughts anyway, they will change =)

                                Aside from the very obvious physical keyboard, the differences are:

                                1. Neo has 3.5mm, mini HDMI and mini USB on top of the unit, Pro has the mini HDMI on the right side, mini USB on the top, 3.5mm on left side;
                                2. Neo is a bit thicker, Pro is a bit longer;
                                3. Neo has f/2.4 aperture, Pro has f/2.65 aperture (the lower, the more light comes in);
                                4. Neo has power button on the right, Pro has power button on the left;
                                5. Neo back is convex, Pro back is concave.

                                For the rest, it is almost the same. Anyone care to comment on my observation?
