You can also see the screen when you are writing so is often easier to compose your thoughts when writing, as well as being able to see things like search suggestions and the ability to use keyboard shortcuts. As already mentioned it can be used as a game contoller in some games.
You, of course, can still use the touch keyboard if you want, and since this a compact and ergonomic device that fits very nicely in your hand even when the keyboard is closed, then I can see no disadvantage to also having the keyboard, especially at the reasonable price of this phone.

by the way are u a nokia or htc user ?

Don't buy! All Sony Ericsson Xperia lineup 2010-2011 have WiFi signal dropout issue. Shocking Sony still won't fix it but know of the problem. 85% phones have it. 25% don't. Shocking!

shivaram, 02 May 2012Can anyone please tell how to capture image through 3d camera...Go onto camera mode, click on the left of the screen to bring menu up. Click on top box which if in normal looks like a white box with a black frame on the inside (Scene selection) and choose 3d sweep. To get 3d you have to slowly sweep to the left or right.

it is excellent for gaming .
regarding the use of the keyboard for gaming i only could use it to run emulators games.
if the gaming is what u r after xperia play is a better choice.

To move those that don't support being moven then you must root - a good option for root users for this would be to use Droidsail super app2sd.

this phone has a great camera and the perfect size but buying this phone has been one of my worst mistakes. Within a month the screen stopped working. And once i got it back from the service centre the loudspeaker has stopped functioning.
Now i've shifted to the galaxy s2 which has a much better user interface and has not had any hardware issues till now.
I wouldn't suggest anyone to go for this phone especially after the experiences i have had with it. Go for a samsung, there is a reason for their increasing market share.
