pony, 02 Oct 2011If u wanna buy this phone , which color would u choose ? an... moreGolden for 3 reassons:
        1. You can get a black cover anytime
2.On black the dust is getting around the screen frame...on the golden one woulnd't be that visible.
3.You can find spare black covers and adding that on your Golden Xray will meake the phone unique: Black front, golden sides and home screen frame and back to black on the back....
        Hope it helped.

I would like to share with you couple of intetersting things I believe will meake some light and determine some of you, either purchasing or not the device.
To be very honest with you, I fell sort of dissapointed of the last review I have seen out there on many sites and as I am a cellphone collector i believe you might find my opinion extremely useful.

You always have to see what you compare a cellphone with. What it is you are asking for a phone and which devices you are comparing with.
What would suit better you needs, what do you need most and what you can dispose. Is it a camera, is it a social media platform, a phone that can me "smart" sometimes or a "smart" with phone call capabilities.
Here is how we stay ( please consider that I use a Nexus S on a daily bassis and I bought this phone for my collection couple of days ago)
1.Design: one of the best I have seen/not bother by the size as I don't have big hands
Although 3.3 inch screen feels smaller than Samsung Wave, let's say. It is because of it's aspect ratio.Definatelly, not a drawback here, you can get used to. I do like small phones and I don't understand what is with htis madness of making phones bigger and bigger. Are we all forgeting how small we wanted our phones years ago? I believe a 4 inch display should be the maximum.
2.weight & fell: I got the Golden one, really slim and really light. It is 23 grams lighter than my Nexus S, but it does not feel way lighter. It is a very compact phone, maybe this is why. Quite slipery but with a cover you will be just fine.
3.Android 2.3.3: I have heard some poeple purchased the device with Android 2.3.4. Hard ot believe as I got mine in England. Yes, Livesound set in the box, plus a spare screen protector. (spare, because right under the protection plastic, you will find already attached a screen protector. Great, as you don;t have to spend with the operation.
                4. I have noticed it consumes more RAM then the phone I use on a daily bassis. It might be the Timesacape.
5.Screen responsivness: I have heard many people complaining about the screen not being very responsive.Well, I guess is because of the Penitill matrix technology in use. Screen being very small, you will need to touch right on the icon to work. It happened to me couple of times that I had to touch and touch again. To be honest, far from Nexus S...screen responsivness, but once again, I believe is because of the screen technology.
If you have the chance, take a Ray in the sunlight and look carefully at the screen and you will notice litle dots...it is the screen techonolgy, not the best, hence why sometimes might appear not responsive.
If you touch the icond right in the midle, it will respond every single time. So, if you like the phone, but have big fingers, this is not for you! You will get anoyed.
Colours are rich except the blues....for some reasson, don't ask me why, the blu is distorsioned.
Very readable in the the sunlight.
Obvioulsy, tilting the phone you will loose the sharpness.
Now, I am hearing of Nova,Bravia,IPS,...and all those stuff.... I am glad to see everyone is trying, but honestly, once you go superamoled, you just can't go back...unless you want a Nokia. The Clearblack Nokia's technology is the only one coming close to Superamoled!!! I am sorry...but that is the truth.
5.Network/ WIFI signal: Definatelly better than my Nexus S, so you will be fine. I would say is above average.
6.Altough equiped with a 1 Ghz processor, it can't come close to today's demands. Struglling, sometimes with the photos....speed wise...It can do the trick, no problem, but side by side Nexus S is twice faster (opening the gallery, the phonebook)
7.Browser: Don't ask me why, but the browser is extremely fast. I am not an engineer....but I have had many cellphones and quite a few in my collection....boy this is fast...I wish it could give up some of the borwser speed, for other applications...
8.text Imput: quite precised considering the size.
I like the 3X4 keypad, but with this one...there is one thing I don;t like. When you select the word, it does not insert the "break" after the selected word, automatically...
It's just a simple thing, but even a downloaded keyboard like "go keyboard" can do it...
Come on....SonyEicsson, you csan do better than that...
9.Battery Life: It is and it isn't....and here is why
                3.3 inches screen(Ray-brightness-59%) vs 4.0 inches screen (Nexus S brighness-100%)
2,46 minutes browsing on both phones using the Dolphin HD browser (don't ask me how pacient I was)/background data switched off on Ray(we know Mediascape is power hungry), switched on on Nexus S

                Results: Ray,battery= 33%
                Nexus, battery= 58%

So,why this litle fellow needs so much energy, don't aks me...but do ask yourself how you are going to use the phone.
If you intend to chat, upload and use Mediascape on a daily bassis, the litle one, will not make it through the day. Guaranteed...I was absolutelly surprised to see how much can consume a such a small phone.
If used as a phone and here and there, check a mail is the perfect phone for you....if you have good eyes.
Another drawback SE should look into is the font size.Is really, too small. I have seen small screens like these (Samsung Wave)performing better.

All these being said, figure it out for yourself...no doubt, the best looking android phone...or even touch screen phone, considering the size. (Nokia N9 is not bad at all, but way bigger)

                Hope it helps deciding!

I have had the Ray for 5 days. I am no technophobe. I was stuned by how good it is. Camera has led flash but is great, (I also have Satio with 12mp camera, not much to compare between the two.)
You will not be disapointed with the Ray.
Because it is Android it will rely on running apps in the background, like any Android phone and it spends a lot of time on the internet, so do not buy one without a data plan!

Perhaps my bad, I did mentioned 'compact' only. I like it slim too and awesome display. I prefer amoled but high density pixel can compensate the lack of amoled. That's y down to xperia ray or nokia 700(symbian is awesome now). Which one should i get?
