I got this phone after much deliberation with the techies at work to replace my nokia 5800xm (lost). I was happy with the nokia despite symbian os as it was small and did what I wanted. I investigated a HTC aria, Samsung galaxy, Nokia E5 and LG optimus.
I wanted an andriod phone so I settled on the Xperia over the Aria. I'm happy with the choice. Positives - touch keyboard bigger than I thought. Menus are pretty logical. Battery is ok, I'm not flogging it and controlling the sync is a good way preserving battery life (do you really give a rats if a facebook friend ate a sandwich?and do you need to know about it right now???). The call clarity is very good and I really like my text messages appearing as threads. I've yet to harness the 'power of the apps' but I know the phone will handle it. I'm a fan of timescape. It took a bit to get used to (all of 5 mins), but I like the concept. It works even better when you turn off automatic facebook updates and email updates. As it's new I cant comment on the video or sound quality too much but judging by the camera quality should be good.
The camera gives good output despite not having a led flash (nokia plus), so pick your lighting carefully. Video is acceptable (at this early stage). Pity there is no quick photo edit tools like rotate or zoom.
When I got the phone the office techies were impressed by the screen size and immediately measured the x10i up against their HTC incarnations.
I noticed (out of the box) the phone is big. Bigger than my 5800xm, but flat. I'm getting used to it. The screen smudges pretty easily so cleanliness won't hurt. I'd be happy to put some protection around the x10i's big screen.
All in all the x10i was worth it. I can see it doing what it needs to for a while yet. I wont be upgrading the os because I like all of the functionality it has now. Yes we could go on about how you cant hotswap the microsd card (like the nokia) and it doesnt give a keyboard response (like an iphone)blah blah blah. If another phone does what you want, then buy it. The x10i is good bang for buck and timescape is innovative. Hope this helps would-be buyers

Anyway I have noticed a lot difference in 65K and 16M colors, watching videos are awful with 65K,and also No 16M color update for this phone!! I don't think that the Chinese company who will buy SE will give such update.

Got this lately brand new.. It's wonderful! Battery life is short in more or less every android and yes, it's Sony's own battery. I'm impressed by the overall performance, well done SE!

rjsdc, 21 Apr 2011only 65k colors?I've been using this phone since July last year and did not find it as a limitation. I did not notice any difference. I don't like to stare at the screen that much...

Which is the best phone?????If u select b/w X10i and HTC desire the obvious answer will be X10i. The main reason is the screen and battery life, x10 has larger screen with good pixels and sunlight eligibility plus having a good hardware and 8mp camera with HD recording with extra 512 rom which is the total rom of Desire.
The point comes to the operating system
desire have 2.2 froyo and x10 having 2.1 eclair. there is not a big deference b/w them the only is supporting of flash player which is not abig deal since x10 will juiced gingerbread this summer.

Just wondering if anyone else if having problems with Experia 10 freezing and the screen going blank when you are trying to hang up after a call. I have to keep pushing the on button to get the screen back and when it comes on for a quick sec it blanks out before I can disconnect the call.
The phone is 2 days old and already having problems. The software is updated.
