any idea how to disable the onscreen lock (which was added in 2.1)..i mean to unlock we need to swipe the unlock botton from left to right..

guys is it ok if you dont upgrade from android 1.6 to 2.1 version? what are the changes if you update to 2.1 version? please reply guys!

After upgrading to android 2.1, the phone is so much better. Even the Pi benchmarks are a lot better. now it pegs at 4800 where as galaxy 3 is only around 9000.(lower the value , the better). this is just to give an indication how better it is compared to galaxy 3.
So, people , after 2.1 upgrade, Xperia x8 is one of the best mid range android phones on the market.

Google has confirmed. Gingerbread will easily run on any device that can run froyo. So if your device can run froyo,gingerbread will run better.
And the NAND chip on X8 is capable of 256MB RAM and 256MB ROM. So technically we can run android 2.3 on X8. All depends on SE.

this phone's battery is great. I used it heavily last night wi fi and browsing and it stood for a long time. not sure about the Bluetooth thing though.

I'm completely fed up with this phone. I brought agen my phone to the service centre yesterday bcos the phone heats up again. they told me they had to monitor it for 3 days then if they diagnosed that the problem is with the motherboard i will have to wait until next year to get this damn phone. so disappointed with Sony Ericsson.
