Duhhh, i didnt think about sending it to my own number!
But anyway, the person received the sms. So it works. It's just the java functionality of using the phone built functions.
I've got one more problem. I read a review on some uk site saying that it would automatically setup gmail, etc. When setting up email, after entering the information, the phone tries to connect to the internet to download settings to automatically setup the email account. But while it says connecting, it does not actually initiate the internet connection - there is no globe in the top status bar. Then it says could not download, please setup email manually. Why is it not able to make an actual connection to the internet?

I selected yes, and there was a little yellow 'succeeded' notice at the top. but there's nothing in sent messages. and the person i sent it to happens to be in a movie! so i'll update later if he received the sms or not.

If you're saying it's not SE's fault i got a defective piece, then is it my fault? There's something called QC. And the service center person said that the unit doesn't seem faulty. So it's probably just a poor performer in weak signal areas. Maybe all the people who're so happy with it never went out of a strong signal area. Last evening, i was outdoors at the mechanic's waiting for my bike to be fixed when i received a call from a friend. I really had to struggle to speak to him, it was that unclear.

I confirmed that when either the read report or delivery time options are set, the phone converts it to an mms. I changed my mms settings to some other provider so that the phone coudln't connect, and when i tried sending a message with these options it just remains stuck in sent messages, with status as 'queued'

I still didn't find the read report option when I clicked on the Advanced options. But who cares if the recipient doesn't read my message, at least I knew from delivery report that my message has been saved in his/her inbox.
And yes its circuit switched as the traditional access in sending text message, but then your problem occurs... hey I could send my message to my own number and it worked! I received a message I just sent so in both inbox and sent message folder I found the same text are laying in there. Just try it and see what'll happen.

PBRB, 05 Jan 2011About sms - that's weird enough when you're about to send a... moreOk, i just checked my message settings, messages are set to be sent via circuit switched, not packet hence not gprs.
But here's the fun part. When either the read report or delivery time options are set my phone converts the sms to an mms. This can be checked by hitting 'back' at the send prompt. If it's a regular sms, it will just show the contents, but if it's an mms, it will popup 'MMS'. Is this also only on my phone or do these options convert sms to mms for everyone?

The wap/mms/internet profiles all work equally well for anything. I dunno how they've setup their end. So my only option now to test the feature is to completely disable or delete internet/mms/wap access and then try the advanced sms features. Thanks for the idea.
Read report is in sms itself. After you compose an sms and select a recipient, when you're at the 'send' prompt, there is options at the left soft-key. The 4th option there is 'advanced'. Under that, delivery report is the first option (which can be set globally in message options), and read report is the 2nd option (which cannot be set globally, only per sms). In fact it's in the same options as the 'delivery time' setting. If you still can't see the read report option, maybe the old firmware doesn't have it. I can't check now that i've updated.

Sure, zylo is the best, zylo is unbeatable in it's price range, zylo may make you coffee in the morning and brush your teeth for you. But i'm having a network issue ONLY with my zylo. And i have as much right to post my opinion her as you do. If you don't like that, tough.
And i bought the phone on the 1st of jan for 7k. How would you feel if you got a lemon and it's not even a week old?
