[deleted post]Sony Xperia1 uses HDR10, while Samsung S10 uses HDR10+
"HDR10+ works differently than HDR10. It sends dynamic metadata, which allow TVs to set up colour and brightness levels frame-by-frame. This makes the picture look realistic. HDR10 aims to produce 1000 nits of peak brightness, whereas HDR 10+ supports up to 4000 nits."

GT, 24 May 2019I've previously owned iPhone and Samsung phones but I have ... moreFirstly, Xperia1 is using a Oled display from LG…..Sony/JDI/JOLED don’t make mobile phone Oled displays. So, your comments about Sony OLED Master Monitor are totally false.
Its not a true 10 bit display, but a 8 + 2 bit smoothing display. “The Xperia 1 has a 10-bit equivalent display (8-bit with 2-bit smoothing) that Sony says can display a myriad of colours without banding. 8-bit with 2-bit smoothing, commonly referred to as 8+2 FRC (Temporal Dithering).” “On an 8+2 FRC display, the image will appear to show more noise than what an actual native 10-bit display will”
https://www.newsshooter.com/2019/03/07/sony-xperia-1-worlds-first-219-cinemawide-4k-hdr-oled-display-smartphone/
Sony Xperia 1 is using HDR bt 20.20, but Samsung S10 is using HDR10+, so S10 is using a higher level of HDR.
There are other phones available with more features for the same price or lower than Xperia1. Plus better warranty and back up service.

XZP LUL, 23 May 2019They are doing the trump's way. If you cannot win it, then ... moreI've previously owned iPhone and Samsung phones but I have to admit, from the perspective of watching entertainment on the go, Sony Xperia 1's specifications blow other phones out of the water such as Samsung S10, iPhone XS, One Plus 7 Pro etc. I will definitely be upgrading my phone to Sony Xperia 1.
Let's deal with the FACTS.
I've tested this phone yesterday at the following shops O2 & Carphone Warehouse in the UK and there are absolutely no signs of heating/overheating. Furthermore, due to the efficiency of the processor, it will not eat up more battery. The Snapdragon 855 is built to handle 4K HDR video playback hence the efficiency of the processor and Snapdragon (Qualcomm) has confirmed that the Snapdragon 855 processor sucks up 30 percent less power while playing 4K/60fps content when compared to the SD 845. Most people don't realise that you don't need more than 6GB of RAM of their phones. Anything more than this is simply overkill as you won't be utilising the other RAM.
Sony Xperia 1: 10-bit display (meaning it can display just over 1 billion colours) and fully unlock the potential of 100% DCI-P3 + BT2020 (partially).
Competition: 8-bit display (meaning it can display just over 16 million colours). Even if the product has HDR 10+ certification, it cannot unlock the rest of the colours due to the 8-bit display limitation.
Sony Xperia 1:
- Has 100% DCI-P3 support along with BT2020 and D65 White Point to reference better/accurate whites.
- Each Sony Xperia 1 has been tuned to the Sony OLED Master Monitor which costs approximately £35,000 - £50,000. In an interview with Naoki Matsubara (Sony Display Engineer), he states that while OLED looks beautiful, from a film perspective, it did not have that 'film' tone before calibration hence why they had opted to calibrate it to the Sony OLED Master Monitor.
No other phones can come close to the Xperia 1 period. The display specs even beat iPhone XS MAX which costs approx £1,400!! A whopping difference of £550!

Ellio74, 23 May 2019You're telling me to understand “missing features “, but so... moreSony phones don't have Auto HDR. Stop lying here.
Auto HDR refers to automatically starting HDR after tapping the camera app button. Do you understand now ?

It has Auto HDR, Power bank option, etc.
Also I never said you wanted an S10, simply that if it corresponds to what you need m, then get one, simple!
But if you're convinced to be right, nice for you.

XZP LUL, 23 May 2019well same goes to s10 where some of the feature of xperia 1... moreYou're wrong about somethings. Xperia 1 is using HDR bt 20.20,but s10 is using hdr10+, so s10 is using a higher level of hdr. Neither sony and Samsung have a 3D TOF camera(just in s10+ 5G).power delivery 2.0 is useless, because sony didn't make a pd adapter charging yet. Play station apps is available for all devices, even in iPhone. In other comment, you said you like to use sd card. Sd card is so slower than internal storage, so most of users wont use a sd card.
You're Paying 1000 EUR for a phone. That's too many money, so its better to buy the phone that has more GB of ram, bigger storage, better Camera performance, better battery endurance and with more features. It's just waste of money to pay for xperia phones that they can't keep up with their competitors, like its mid-ranger 10 and 10 plus.

XZP LUL, 23 May 2019well same goes to s10 where some of the feature of xperia 1... moreActually Xperia 1 has Sonys OSS, as in 5 axis optical stabilisation system, present in Alpha DSLR cameras and Sonys proffesional video cameras.
It also has 18 watt fastcharge, not 15 watt.
And yah, it definitely stands out in camera department, just for its unique pro level OSS stabilisation, VENICE Cinema Pro video recording, and Alpha camera quality photo algirithms.
It has realtime video background blur(portrait) ability too, just as their proffesional video systems, sth other phones do by lousy software implementation only.

Another Sony fanboy said these missing fatures wern't on any other phone, so the S10 was just an example.

It looks like you don't even know what you're talking about when it comes to understanding "missing features" on Sony xperia1.
You need to re-read my comments as I never said I wanted a S10. It was just an example to prove you wrong.
But here is your quote, and I have proved you wrong. At least be man enough to admit it….. “good luck to find all of these missing features in one phone, because as I said, every smartphone lacks some features.”
