I had serious doubts about that aspect, but changed my mind after presentations. It seriously has more pros than cons.
It s a new industry standard, so the rest will follow.

AlexP, 15 May 2019Motorola One Vision has 21:9 display. So I guess Xperia 1 i... moreLG Chocolate BL40, released in 2009, had 21:9 aspect screen ratio.

Also Acer Iconia Smart and Oukitel U18 have 21:9 screens.

“So what does a 21:9 phone offer over the competition. Practically none. Majority of content available for mobile devices have been formatted specifically for mobile screens, specifically 16:9 ones. Even the new 18:9 fad has not yet changed that status quo. And since the 5.85-inch display really only has a resolution of 1512*720, that means you’re limited to 720p HD content as well.”

AlexP, 15 May 2019It's true 10 bitWrong. Xperia1 is a true 8 bit with added 2 bit temporal dithering.

That is NOT true 10 bit.

"The Xperia 1 has a 10-bit equivalent display (8-bit with 2-bit smoothing) that Sony says can display a myriad of colors without banding. 8-bit with 2-bit smoothing, commonly referred to as 8+2 FRC (Temporal Dithering)."

I clearly said "Also Xperia1 is only 8 bit with a added fake 2 bit software. Numerous other brands are also doing 8+2 bit."

Again, numerous other brands, NOT other mobile brands! Please read the link more carefully as the quotes are there. Not my personal quotes.

Your answers and proof are all there. You just don’t want to admit it.

Anonymous, 15 May 2019There is no pros of 4k in that tiny screen and it hurts bat... moreWhile some parts of it i agree, i do wish they has an option to make it 1080p on default, triggered 4k on media, pretty much like XZ Premium. While u may not notice it on videos, 12mp resolution photos can pixel peep to full extend in 4k.

I myself saw 2k screen phone maximum sharpness level my eyes can see. Even my 65" 4k TV viewed from 2 metres lol. But technologies improvement are always welcome.

Pretty much like 21:9 screen ratio. I love it. Big multitasking view with full cinematic video experience. Even when Sony first introduce 16:9 screen phone people call it ridiculous back in days, then all of them follow afterwards. But it must do in the right ways, make it full bezelless like Oneplus 7 Pro so the height can be controlled, and apply full screen gesture instead of the Pill gesture.

So, JDI is NOT yet supplying Apple watches with Oleds. And certainly NOT making any Oled screeens for phones yet.

"Reuters says that JDI will supply the OLEDs for Apple from its current small-scale pilot R&D line. Apple is currently selling around 10 million Watch devices per year. Even though not all of them are the latest generation, it is not likely that JDI will have enough capacity - so it is likely that LGD will remain Apple's main OLED smartwatch supplier."
