Its the way they handle contrast, colors temp, wide aperture effects etc. that results in a bit sentimental & vintage images. Perfect for street photography.
I have a Leica D-Lux camera & Mate 20, therefore i can confirm it has an identical results. With the 'smooth' & 'vivid' color option on Mate 20, it makes images more identical as Leica does & i love that 'smooth' color option, as it makes your image & video recording ready at cinematic effects without having to fiddle around with Lightroom later. Less hassle & save time.

High end phone camera like mate 20 pro is too vibrant in daylight, in dark situation xz3 also produce dark photo, close to reality. with high end phone its brighter than reality. Xz3 also see closer to what we see, while in mate 20 it can be much closer than reality.

I kinda like t... moreThe added color is not true to real life on Huawei and samsung, what you capture is only a bundle of image edited skill which turn everything into the avatars. You have no choice. You can fill up you live with these critical color encode processing. You can't see the real scence, but fill up with even more punchy colors and highlights. You get everyday brightness like owl hawk eyes in night. That's what you get so not close to reality.

Do you really think what you see is what you get? Non DSLR will do that, only smartphone will gimmick it. While the original image can not be restored just because of this gimmick and color trick, full with punchy color and highlights and turn night scene day alike.

I am not sure about leica style photography. Its really there or its only a story you make to defend your opinion. Because its now different with p30 pro, i have read phone arena blind test result, since all people love blue sky and its not there on p30 pro photos, it lost in that test to XR n S10+.

Tann Hauser, 12 Apr 2019A lie.
Nokia and Sony released first waterproof smartphone... moreWrong. Please re read your own link. These are direct quotes from your link. Even your own link has proved you wrong.
2005 saw the first water resistant phone with the Casio Canu 502S / GZ'One. Sony copied in 2006 with the Sony Ericsson SO902iWP+ (not a smartphone). Sony copied.
2006 was the Nokia 5500 Sport. This ran on Symbian, so this is the first ever waterproof smartphone.
The first water resistant Android phone is released by Motorola, the Motorola Defy in 2012.
Sonys first android water resistant phone, the Xperia z was in 2013. Sony copied again.

A smart Shooter, 11 Apr 2019Dramatic can be good or worse, it depends on individual. Hu... morePhotography terms are huge. To each his own. I kinda like the Leica-style photography effects. And to be honest, some of the shots are taken in Night Mode (which maybe look a bit unnatural, but it serve its purpose, to see things in the dark), it should be auto all the time for more natural looking. (Well, if u like it).
As my opinion, the same blue color both on daylight & lowlights are because that means it has an excellent dynamic range & higher contrast with no overblown highlights than XZ3 does. Thats what most photographer ever dreamed of.

A smart Shooter, 11 Apr 2019Dramatic can be good or worse, it depends on individual. Hu... moreAbout color rendering, its only about preference, and its always subjective. i prefer more dramatic shot, i want to show my friend i have a perfect vacation, when sky is perfectly blue and tropical tree in perfect green. You prefer natural look. But i honestly dont think so, if camera 1 get more dramatic photo, you will love it.
But about lo light shot like pool scene, camera 1 got dark picture, its camera 1 abvious lost, its undeniable. Camera 1 is just like midrange phone, it has all midrange phone camera problem, In daylight struggle in a costrasty scene, night shot when there is still enough light its okay, but low light scene get dark or even unusable photo.

Anonymous, 11 Apr 2019Wrong. Sony copied waterproof phone idea. LG/Casio was firs... moreEven if Sony isn't the first one to introduce waterproof Android smartphones they are the only one to have implemented it as standard since they have introduced it for flaggship smartphones.
What the video you shared doesn't tell is the fact that ever since all of the Xperia flaggships and some midrangers like the Xperia aqua have been ip certified
Xperia go
Xperia acro s
Xperia V
Xperia z
Xperia z1
Xperia z2
Xperia z3
Xperia z4
Xperia z5
Xperia x performance
Xperia xz
Xperia xz premium
Xperia xz1
Xperia xz2
Xperia xz3
Xperia 1
And if I would have added all of the ip rated midrangers than this list would have been even longer..... Wich other oem has a long list of ip certified Android flaggships like Sony? That's the point to be made here. Samsung, Apple and all of the other oems adopted this bodylanguage later. (ip certified metal / glass)
Sony changed their policy simply because pple werent using it as stated in their guidelines. Yes you could submerge their phones but in fresh water. And if you do use it in let's say salt water then you have to rinse it off with fresh water thoroughly because chlorine and salt will deteriorate the components wich provide the ip rating in the first place.
Their a company that had to change their policy later on for their own best interest since most users simply don't read the products guidelines its called damage control.
Go ahead and compare the ip certificate of xperias to galaxies and you'll see that they are the same. Samsung and other oems learned from Sonys experience on that ground and also state the same in their user guidelines... But I haven't heard you complain about that part... Bias much yes kinda maybe?
