I like this old omnibalance design, its a Sony's signature design. XZ2 & XZ3 design change was a bad move, but glad they're back in old design.

      Last 7 years. Sony has not fixed poor low light camera, low music level, poor design, average battery, ugly design. This phine is way too long n ugly. Failed again! Sony is so stupid.

I don't understand how the Xperia Z3 from Sept 2014 got launched AND released in the same month, but every other phone seems to ALWAYS TAKE 3 months. WHY????!!

By limiting so much what features go into their Xperia cameras, Sony Mobile tended to lag behind at least the very best competitors, but literally every individual point you mentioned has been remedied ftw. Further in-house development (Mobile is now OFFICIALLY a part of and under Sony's Imaging Dept!, which is a tremendous PLUS if you ask me), the Xperia 1 will feature a TRIPLE lens (the XZ2 Premium had a dual, and it was their best camera ever, even beating out the single-lensed XZ3 which came out after), the 1 WILL have OIS on 2 of it's 3 cameras (normal/wide and telephoto will have it, the ultra wide one won't, which is ok by me), the aperture on the main "normal/wide" camera will be f1.6 (I think you meant make it smaller, not bigger, as smaller is better), which compared to their last several phones is the smallest aperture for the MAIN camera on an Xperia flagship yet! And lastly, the 1 will have "2X Zoom" which is a new feature, and with regards to better lenses.........instead of utilizing a 48 MP lens, it was explained that by instead going with a Triple Lens Setup of 3 "12 MP" lenses, the end results will actually come out with even SHARPER photos! So to me, that's every box being checked off! lol

            Sony seems to be constantly updating their software, and the fact that you have all these new features means that's a certainty as you'd need updated software in order to properly execute these features flawlessly.

            Well we'll see. I really don't see any reason not to think it won't be fantastic. The XZ2 Premium's camera was great, but b/c of no OIS, it still wasn't the best at low-light shots (though still VERY good b/c of the super high ISO). With this camera having OIS and other benefits, I think it will at least be the best Sony Xperia phone yet. One thing Sony has been great at is color accuracy, even over Samsung and perhaps Apple, if not Huawei too. Samsung in particular tends to oversaturate its photos, which in many cases ends up diminishing color accuracy, which is something I don't really like. If I take a picture with emerald green in it, I wanna see EMERALD GREEN in the photo too, not lime green.

                  After Samsung S8 comes S9 and then S10 and it makes sense, do you think after Sony XZ3 is XZ4? NO, comes Sony Xperia 1, why 1? maybe that's the number of seconds they thought of naming it.

                      Yes the help of alpha team is a big advantage. They finally catch up. But it seem as the the hardware is kind like a safe configuration. I hope the software will be new, new algorithm and play with image stacking etc, not only borrow some stuff like eye autofucus etc. For now i predict it wont surpass mi mix 3.

I owned the XZ3 for a couple weeks right after it came out last year, but returned it b/c the single-lens camera was subpar. It was a good notches below what the previous Xperia (XZ2 Premium) with its DUAL-lens setup could do.

                        The 1 however will have THREE lenses, updated software, features borrowed from their luxury camera ("Alpha") division, such as autofocus, autoexposure, and auto eye focus, as well as OIS, which will IMPROVE its low-light & nighttime shots (no previous FLAGSHIP Xperia phone has had OIS). The new CEO made sure to have the camera & TV depts have MUCH more involvement with the 1 than any previous Xperia before it, which is why the display will ALSO be the best yet for sure! I for one CAN'T WAIT for the 1 to be released!!!

I kinda just skimmed that on user boards like these vs. reading it in a credible article I can recall now.

                                  Not to forget Xperia 1 performance is better anyway according to benchmarks

                                    Once more a Sony device set to fail, this is a device with lower specs or similar to galaxy s10 and is going to be realised 3 months later with the same price ?!?!?!?!! Seriously are you expecting to sell any divice at all???

The battery need to be manufactured in specific number to reach efficience in production, and since Xz3 sales is low sales, they still have battery for XZ3 in stock.
