Chinese companies with silly names make better ones with half the price, mod the things with custom roms and gcams and they're seas ahead. Sony's been driven out almost completely, they should learn from it and adapt if they want to stay in the business. X10 is atleast quite reasonably priced, but still there are better options for the same price.

Oh, i miss the days when there were actuall brands that made devices. Now all you read is: xiaomi mi, redmi, oppo moppo, toco, froco, giuoco and boco. And the new commers, gibaca, motaca loco, dudopon, jimbo and so on. Thos days before were actuall brands that invested time and money and innovated, brands that had a name and a reason to exist.

Sony really needs to be carefull when they price their devices, and stop using plasic frames. Plastic back does not bother, but plastic frame, especially sony, kills it's structure at it's thiness.

Why 21:9? It looks like a tv remote control. How long my thumb should be to cover the screen? Too bad they ditched the compacts.

1: "Fools in Japan" aren't obsessed with processors, RAM, and price as you are. They prefer quality, not just the latest processor.
2: This phone isn't actually sold in Japan, none of these midrange and lowend offerings from Sony are.

I've tried this phone in a store. It's quite unusual, but comfortable to hold an use with one thumb. Sony implemeted nice software tricks for that. Like Samsung's swipe down to bring down status bar etc. So you don't have to stretch your thumb all the way to the top of the phone. Performance was snappy. SD 630 is quite good, but maybe I'm just used to it from ym current Xperia XA2. I've tried the camera. It's solid, nothing spectacular. I couldn't test the battery, but I've tried the phone for soild half a hour and battery percentage went down 7%.

2019 and still using a 1 yr old SD630 SoC priced at almost $400? Only fools in Japan buys this phone.

The other commenters are right. Who is sony trying to fool? The only person I see buying this is someone who will only buy Japanese phones. The price is far too much for the specs. You can get a phone with 128GB internal, 4000 mAh, 19.5:9 ratio and SD plus dual sim (not SD plus single sim or dual sim but no SD) for 250-300 EUR, instead of paying 350 for this phone. It's sad what Sony has come to. If it really isn't profitable for them to sell phones in Europe, they should consider ceasing to do so. A shame because I love their unique square designs and crazy color schemes.

Missing a lot of features in this mid range deal, even a gyro would do much to add a little further appeal

If Sony really wants better sales and credence in the smartphone field it needs to release a series of non commercial prototypes into the hands of random real world critics, producers and enthusiasts to give them the real world feedback they potentially need, that's something no other supposed Industry leader would even dream of but I digress, from the grassroots you always have the seed.. The reality of what's possible is being consistently hindered by the desire for exorbitant profit at the lowest denominal cost and it always does so at a loss for what is offered.
