You can block the majority of apps from accessing the net and block background usage ( only working when you open the app )
for notes you had the option to download Google keep on initial setup ( as I did)
I agree a scrollable screen capture would be nice .
But yes you can control individual apps data and background usage from within the apps list.
As well as going to the battery section and fine tuning which apps are put to a basic sleep or deep sleep.
I put everything I don't need to sleep and get 2 to 3 days easily between charges
Google assistant is always the first to go followed by news apps then I work my way down one at a time, including YouTube app because I'm not paying for background play.
Not when you can set your net browser to desktop mode and use YouTube web version in the background with the screen off for free

Overall, I am very disappointed by the Xperia 10 III. The main issue is the camera(s).
Very poor quality in low light and just OK otherwise. My previous phone was a Galaxy S7 (from 2016!) and it took much better pictures in comparison. I thought 5 years later any phones would be better but I as very wrong.
The screen is very hard to read on sunny day because the screen is very reflective.
Even if it is one of the smallest phones there it is far from compact.

Though I like that phone in many ways, it's hardware is well balanced and almost complete, imo, it misses many good things:
No configurable assistant kay, no radio app, no notes app, no option to fully restrict specific apps internet access, 3/4 screen view for bit old apps(quickpic, es explorer...), photo capturing takes seconds, Videos aren't always rotating while landscape mode, man, there isn't scrollshot option, what the hen, Sony?! Your software team needs some shaking.
I understand, some of this missing cause phone has clean android. But I don't like such cleaness. Im getting old, pased 30, don't have enough time to lurk in web for info. I need ready solutions.

Fantastic littl... moreYes I have had that issue, but I noticed if I try to scan my finger print from quite a while being on idle standby, then instead of just resting my finger on the sensor, I would physically press the button, then it would 9 times out of 10 register my print with just a simple touch.
might be the system is putting the sensor or the fingerprint reading software to sleep too early ?
I'm not a tech guy so I don't know

OK last update after owning it for a month. Fantastic little phone. Incredible battery. Only gripe is with the side mounted fingerprint sensor. This thing is the worst fingerprint sensor I have ever used. At first it was just a little irritating, but now it's really annoying. I'd say at least 70% of the time it doesn't work on the first couple tries. Anyone else have this problem?

EliseKlevr, 10 Nov 2021This phone would last 2 to 3 days of normal use as gmsarena... moreDon't rely solely on the battery endurance test report. While it might be accurate but it all depends on the usage. That's why it has different results shown on how the phone perform to its functions and firmware/software
For example it may last 6 hours on photography alone but it can last 12 hours while playing video. So those who watch videos alot will be happier than those who take photos because their battery last longer.
I am also using a Xiaomi with 4000mah but the difference is that i need to charge it at night during dinner just to continue to use it for few hours before i sleep. If i use Sony it can last until my bedtime and battery is critically low on juice without a second charge in a day. So i definitely like Sony more because it's smaller & lighter besides the battery performance.

Yes it is good for light contact with water but I wouldn't submerge any phone in water myself.
And yes I have had my water proofing / resistance pouch for a while, I like how cheap they are, and that it gives me extra peace of mind.
battery stamina and phone durability are my main key points when looking at phones.
My brother is the total opposite to me, he gets a phone and just allows it to get wet and dirty, and it survives....and there is me cringing at even 1 fingerprint on the screen :-)

Anonymous, 10 Nov 2021it's not waterproof, its water resistant to a certain ... moreThis phone's water protection falls under waterproofing.*
I strongly recommend the Xperia 10 III due to all the features it has. I couldn't find something better at this price point with Stock Android, with efficient power consumption, headphone jack, 21:9, 6-inch display with Gorilla glass 6, and so on.
I have been comparing phones for several months now and it all boils down to this phone. The rest the phones these days are practically phablets running modified versions of Android.
I think you should keep yours because its battery has a slow degradation rate for up to 3 years.
*"Waterproofing is the process of making an object or structure waterproof or water-resistant so that it remains relatively unaffected by water or resisting the ingress of water under specified conditions. Such items may be used in wet environments or underwater to specified depths."

EliseKlevr, 10 Nov 2021This phone would last 2 to 3 days of normal use as gmsarena... moreit's not waterproof, its water resistant to a certain level.
And I have already owned this phone, I managed 2 and half days between charging.
And the IP rated pouch is better than a phone alone, as the pouch if in good condition only has 1 point of ingress and can be replaced with a new pouch easily, far easir than a phones internal water / dust seals.
no phone is 100% water tight , so the pouch is an added extra layer of protection if you live in areas of heavy downpour or work is really wet environments

AnonD-1026188, 10 Nov 2021If it was down to battery life preservation for emergency u... moreThis phone would last 2 to 3 days of normal use as gmsarena's lab test and other reviewers have shown. There are lots of phones with 5000 mAh batteries that don't even reach 100 endurance rating (Mi 11T, Mi 11T Pro, Mi 11 Ultra, and so on.) In comparison, this phone has 137.
When I search for phones, I look at endurance rating rather than milliampere/hour.
It's compact and easy to pack, fully waterproofed. No need for a pouch.

I liked my Xperia 10iii while ownership lasted, but I switched to Samsung A52s ..... people will hate me whichever side I take, but I prefer the more forgivable impact tolerance of plastic.
Although I do know not all materials are equal with their respective counterparts....not all glass is as strong as other glass compounds and likewise with plastic.
This A52s regardless will have to tough it out

EliseKlevr, 09 Nov 2021A phone you need.
• Battery with endurance rating of 137... moreIf it was down to battery life preservation for emergency use, then I'd go for LCD , 5000mah and no larger screen than 6.5 inch
And get an IP rated pouch / bag as that should perform better than a phone, which still has tiny points in which water and dust , especially that fine stuff , can gain access.
I've found building site dust gets in absolutely everywhere.

Anonymous, 08 Nov 2021Is this phone has ??No Original AOD. You can use third part ones, but usually they "kill" battery life and have a very long list of needed permission, to much for my taste.
The FM radio is a regional issue, due to the fact that in some UE country you cannot sell radio device without DAB support.

A phone you need.
• Battery with endurance rating of 137h!
• IP-68 rating (1.5m water submersion for 30 mins.)
• FM radio, NFC, 5G
• headphone jack + SD card slot
• SD 690 (performs like Dimensity 800U, check nanoreview comparison)
• 60Hz OLED screen + Gorilla glass 6
• Almost Stock Android software
This phone is a necessity especially during emergencies.
All other features are useless when the battery is dead. So pick up a phone with a long-lasting battery.
