Not much difference from 10 mark iii. Would it have been better that Sony released a compact this time round? Something to challenge the Iphone Minis?!

There're folks who cannot stand puncholes/waterdrops and bulging cameras.
Then there're those who want decent sound with Hi-Res support, both wired and wireless, and a wide range of supported Bluetooth codecs.
Moreover, think about those who like outstanding battery care features, real physical proximity sensors, side-mounted fingerprint sensors, LED indicators, and Sony's careful approach to Android customization.
And finally, business people who use their smartphones for communication on the go, and want their device to be easily pocketable, comfortable to use with one hand, and reliable in terms of battery life.
Now Sony's market are those folks who can afford to and are willing to pay a premium for some or all of the above.
If there are no inherent design flaws and PWM is better than on 10 III, I'll be one of them.

If it has shorter display ratio and under 400$ i would 100% buy it. Tall 21:9 ratio is no for me as i mostly watches 16:9 videos(at most 18:9 at youtube).. Taller ratio is pointless..

This whole 690 and 695 series was created to market entry level device as midranger.

I'm a bit disappointed with Sony's cost-cutting here, namely with the SoC. The power of the Snapdragon 695 isn't bad for day-to-day use, but the lack of 4K video is a pretty big omission, since the displays industry in the middle of moving from FHD to UHD resolutions as the default. Also, 1 crappy speaker is a bit of a weird choice for a company with a huge focus on audio, although HD audio support on the 3.5mm jack is nice (albeit a tad useless for most people ;P)

There is not a single phone with all those good features packed into one model. When it comes to screen brightness about 95% of the time your phone hangs around 400-500 nits. Those extreme values of 1000+ are either on super flagship phones like iPhone and S22 Ultra or they are just sample pixel group value when whole display is black. When it comes to camera this phone's camera is as bad as Samsung A53 or Poco X3 but again these are midrangers and camera is not a priority, it's a convenience. I don't want to argue S22 Ultra vs 1 IV cause discussion can go on forever. If you think oversaturated and overshaprened, obnoxious outputs are your thing then fine.
